It's impossible to say if one or more reading is estimated.

I can't really understand what you're saying about the readings of 02783 and 04746. Which one is estimated - the recent one or the previous reading?
  • it says

    Previous Reading

    02691
    25 jul 09

    recent
    02738
29 jul Kilowatt used 92 over 5 days total 8.47

    then

    previous reading
    02738
    estimated

    recent
    31 oct
we read ur meter kilowatt hour used 1963 over 94 days totalling £255?

OK, so it seems that the meter was read on 25/7 and 31/10, which is 2055kwh used over a quarter.

This is about 22kwh a day which is high for summer, but not impossible. Do they have large old fridge/freezer, plasma TV on all evening, tumble drier, dishwasher, electric shower. Are these things used most days. Anything else on all the time like fishtanks, PCs etc?

Your Mother has been billed for 1,963 kWh.

Of course if one of those meter readings is estimated, that will not be what she actually used. One of the readings will be 02783(E) or 04746(E) if estimated.

You give two costs £255 and £211?? Was there VAT added at the end.

A bit more detail on the bill will help.

How is the house heated and Hot water supplied?

    Edit - post crossed
  • Hot water is gas central heating , standard council place with double glazing windows and insulation

    The total charges where 255.68

first dates i said was 1.59 first 7kw then next 85 was 8.47

the enxt dates was first 129kw 33.88 then next 1834 kw 211.74

    totaling to 255.68

Just a normal size tv 22" tumble dried doesnt get used maybe once a week for an hour at most, normal beko fridge freezer and an indesist cooker with a beko washing machine

    Right all is clear!

The First set of readings, the £1.59 and £8.47 are for the consumption before the price rise.

The second set of readings £33.88 and £211.74 are for the consumption after the price rise date.

So your mother has used 2055 kWh and paid £255 so the prices are right.

Certainly using 2,055kWh in a qurter is very high for people out at work all day - 8,000kWh pa when the average is 3,300 kWh pa.

You really need to find out what is causing that high consumption. Possible reasons that will contribute:
Tumble dryer used a great deal.
    Immersion heater left switched on.
    Faulty fridge, freezer.
  • Im gunna call scottish gas tomorrow just to get them to explain sum of it to me . i live with my parter and we use more than them and pay less thats why i dont understand it all :(
