Southern Electric Sole Suppliers of an area?
I had a rep from Southern Electric at my door today saying that Southern Electric ran their pipes through our area - and don't have to pay any middle man for charges so they are cheaper than other suppliers and guaranteed their rates were cheaper and to switch. Does this sound normal? Is there such a thing as a middle man…

How do I find the best prices when moving into a new house?
Hi everyone Price comparisons make sense, but when moving into a new place, does anyone have any ideas for finding the best gas and electricity suppliers from the outset? As I'm moving house in a few days, any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks in advance Mike

Supplier never updated Electric/Gas Meter
Ever since I'm with my new Supplier Ebico they never updated my meters. There have been at least 2 price increases since I've been with them. Do they not have to physically access the meter ? I spoke to my neighbour who lives alone - same size flat & pays 1£/day. Me and my wife pay about 0.5£/day. He's on a key meter & we…

Has Martin Mis-Advised Us Into Capping Our Fuel Rates?
Well Martin, if you are reading.. Are you still confident that your advise on capping energy rates was a good decision? I suspect many thousands of people followed your advice. Im not so sure, fuel costs as in petrol and diesel have been slashed dramatically in the last month or so. Surely it's only a matter of time before…

No Mains Gas
We live in a village that does not have mains gas. Our house is supplied via a bulk gas tank that serves 9 other houses, of which relies on regular deliveries. Therefore, we are becoming increasingly concerned with the price increases as we are: 1) unable to shop around for the best deals (e.g. dual-fuel, other suppliers)…

Energy companies: Is the game up?
There have been a few of us on here who have taken a virtual bashing for suggesting the energy companies have been ripping us off for ages. We've had the usual accusation of being 'irrational', 'ranting', 'you know nothing' blah blah blah. I for one have never claimed to be an expert on this subject (I'm always extremely…

Fixed costs versus Capped costs - beware!
At the height of the flurry of advice on switching suppliers several months ago I switched to Southern Electric on a fixed cost tarriff to 2010 foolishly thinking this meant my charges were fixed until 2010. What it turns out to be is that I get a fixed discount against the published tariff until 2010! My bills have lept…
