switched from SE to Scottish Power, now should I switch back to SE?

Options
I was with SE and switched to Scottish Powers Fixed Price tariff on Martins advice when fuel prices seemed to be heading upwards.
Now SE are trying to lure me back because I was one of their 'most best' customers!
Can somebody tell me if it would be worth my while based on the following tariffs cos' I just don't understand the price comparison website results!

Currently with Scottish Power, 'Fixed price Energy Online 2009' tariff
Gas £70 per month direct debit, Electric £46 per month direct debit.

Southern Electric tariff for GAS is 'No Standing Charge', £70 per month direct debit (Daily Standing charge 0.00p, primary rate first 1143 kWh each quarter 4.43p, Secondary rate remaining kWh each quarter 3.37p)

Electric tariff is 'General no standing charge', £40 per month direct debit (Daily Standing charge 0.00p, unit rate first 364 kWh each quarter 16.63p, unit rate remaining kWh each quarter 12.57p)

Thanks

  • I forgot to mention there will be a £50 fee for leaving Scottish Power!

Look at past bills to get your annual kwh use for gas and elec (using actual readings from past statements a year apart) and work it out using the figures you've given for Southern and your current tariff.

    Only accurate way to compare.

If you were one of their 'most best' customers, perhaps they'll refund you the £50 exit fee payable to SP :rotfl:

Seriously, you need to do as Magentasue says and compare actual consumption figures, not the lowest a supplier will charge you monthly in DD. Offering a lower monthly DD figure is a common marketing ploy to tempt customers to switch. A quick look over this forum will reveal a multitude of threads where posters are now receiving demands for the shortfall in the difference between what they have paid monthly and what they have actually consumed.

Obviously I'm not one of SE's bestest 'most best' customers because they've refused to pay the £50 to Scottish Power!
