Just recieved my Owl Energy Monitor and got it installed okay but now I'm confused
How do I set up the price per KW/H ?
I'm on E.on Online Extra Saver 10 and my rates are 26.40pence for the first 2.47 units and 10.82 for any units there after per day, so how do I set it up ?
Any help apprieciated

I suppose you could average it out. Its only giving you an instantaneous reading so its probably better to use the Kwh display and get a feel for what you can switch off to achieve the lowest value. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Find out how many kwh you used last year - say 3000. Work out how many high cost units a year - say 250 a quarter = 1000 a year at 26.4p = £264. Then the other 2000 units at 10.82p = £216. Total = £480. Divide that by 3000 = 16p per kwh.
Not sure if that's the best way but it's the method I've used. I know you should add VAT and subtract discounts but it's close enough for me.0 -
If it really is 2.47 units a DAY they charge at the higher rate I reckon working this out with any accuracy will be rather difficult! Like a previous poster has suggested, maybe leave it showing the kwhs being used?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Thanks Magentasue.
I think it roughly works out as follows :
9103 units used last year  ,
Primary units - 900 X .264 = £237.60
Secondary units - 8203 x .108 = £885.92
Total £1123.52
£1123.52 divided by 9103 units = .123 p/kwh average....!!
Sound okay to you ? Obviously its not spot on but ballpark gives you a good idea0 -
Looks OK to me! Was you elec bill for last year in the region of 9103 x 01.23p = £1119,669 = £1120?
Ours was if it's any consolation! On a mission to reduce this year.0 -
Yes it was about that...
The problem was when I first moved into this one bedroom flat mt D/D was for £64 it then went up to £112 and is now at £92  .
Everytime I phone E.on I get different reasons as to why it has changed so much and I always feel like I'm being done over.
The other problem is I'm on call 24/7 and I travel around Europe roughly 20 days a month with work so its really difficult to take meter readings and monitor my usage all the time.
Hopefully using the Owl will give me a better idea of whats going on.0 -
My initial thought at your last post was that it's a massive amount of electricity for a one bed flat if you're only living there for a quarter of the year. Then I wondered if you use electric heating?
Whatever, hopefully, the monitor will show what is causing the high bills. We've got our daily kwh down to about 12 now - this time last year, it was between 18 and 26!0 -
even with electric heating it's high for living there half the time really. £2k+ for a 1 bed flat bills? All of a sudden houses look cheap to run0

Its all down to the night storage heaters, so inefficient.
Looking to move at the moment to a new build with solar heating etc.0
