Which suppliers am I with?
I have just sold a house I was renting out (through an agent). I need to contact the utility suppliers to ensure I am not overbilled for services. How do I work out what gas and electricity suppliers supplied the house, as a) I can't remember it was years since I lived there, and b) the tenants may well have changed them.…

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked already, but I've had a look and found nothing. does anyone know the best rate for Boiler Insurance? And does it have to be with your own gas supplier? And has anyone had good/bad experiences? I saw in the paper that one- Scottish Gas?- had got in trouble for generally being crap. Please…

Help! Runaway bills!
Who can you call to give an opinion on the condition of a boiler without automatically pulling out the brochures for new ones? I am pretty sure that my daughters boiler might be at fault with her excessive use of gas and not the meter as I previously thought. Checking her readings over the past year, they seem to be…

Meter readings
I have had several roblems with meter readings, and my latest bill was a bit large. So i checked the readings again (econ7) and on my bill it says: L:37626 H:96406 But my actual readings are: L:34904 H:96571 Obviously a big difference with the Low readings. Would this make a big difference (nigher or lower) on my bills? We…

All those with power gen should have got a letter about price rises. As we were changing to another company I noted it said that no price rise would be implemented while we change, if we rang them up and told them. Have just done that and low and behold they said they would re pay any money that we are owed from any price…

British Gas "Price Protection 2010" and Pre-payment meter?
Bit of a long one this so please bear with me... Back in September 2005 we received an email from british gas as we are registered on the house.co.uk website saying we could freeze our electricity price until 2010. We have a pre-payment meter and as far as i remember the house.co.uk website gave the rates for pre-payment…

Southern Electric or not !
Apologies if this is slightly OT but wasn’t sure where to post. Be very careful not to make spelling mistakes when entering a web address. I just miskeyed Southern electric as ***address removed by boardguide*** and ended up at some jokester’s site that was designed to look like an energy company. I realised my mistake…

Hi, I work from home and have recently changed over (from Powergen) to npower for my utilities (gas and elec.) As I work from home, they suggested I take the business rates as 'this is will be cheaper - since I must use more as a business.' The actual tarif on cost per unit seems cheaper but I am not sure if this is the…
