Unfair dismissal - any ideas/comments?
Hello, I've been reading threads on this board and there sound like there are some good bits of advice, so I thought I would post what I am up to to see if anyone has any ideas! The gist is that after a period of depression and anxiety (caused by work) I was made redundant. This was soon after being given a permanant…

If anyone can let me know how they found their job or where they started looking, that'd be…

I'm going to apply at a customer service job at Aunt Bessie's. I have the qualifications, so that part of my cover letter is ok. But when you apply for a place like this, do they care if you buy their products? I personally love Aunt Bessie's puddings, I won't buy anyone else's and I love their stuffing balls and roasties,…

New job after redundancy
If a person has been made redundant and paid in lieu of notice (they have already received all the money they are due from their employer) and they are not required to work their notice, can they legally start a new job or must they wait until the notice period expires?

I need help with a payment problem
My work has paid my wages from the past month to the wrong account. I am not entirely sure to how to go about recovering this as my (now ex) employers say that they don't have a responsibility or an ability to pay me the money. According to them, since they have filled out their side of the contract, that is paying my…

Off sick?
I know you don't have to have a medical certificate for the first 7 days off sick but does this include weekends or only working days? Also if I were off Monday to Friday but Tuesday is my day off does that count as 4 or 5 days. One more question! Do you have to ring your employer by law or can you write in to say you are…

Are there any "work from home" jobs?
Hi, I just wondered if anyone knows of any "genuine" working from home jobs. I'd love to earn money in my spare time etc. etc. but all those I've checked out, want you to put money up first, and then there isn't really a job there. Some want you to put up as much as £200. That would only get me further into debt. I don't…

when to tell the boss I am looking for a new job
I am currently looking for another job. I have had one interview so far. My question is my manager will be going on holiday soon for 2 weeks. She is the only person that can write me a reference. Should I tell them her before she goes so she could prepare one which can be given to HR Dept. If I told them could they make me…

Should I give consent to access medical reports
I've had a pretty bad year so far. I've taken about 5 overdoses (3 required treatment for liver failure) and admitted to a psychiatric hospital twice. This has resulted in me being off sick for 7 weeks between Feb-Apr, a few days in May and another 2 weeks during June/July. So in total just over 9 weeks. I am currently…

How am I supposed to remember when I was sick 2 years ago?
I have to fill out a paper and I have to give dates and reasons for me being absent from work, which they (Humberside Police) say they will verify. I know I was sick 5-6 times. Food poisoning and headache (I think), but I have no idea about the dates. Do I just call my employer? Will they even remember?

SICK PAY Question. Again.
I am not a happy bunny:mad: My employer has this "policy" of not paying for days off if they amount to more than 3 instances in one year. I have been aware of this but really now resent what they have done. I have worked for the same company for 11 years and in the whole of this time I have had 31 days sick - not bad for…
