I need help with a payment problem

My work has paid my wages from the past month to the wrong account. I am not entirely sure to how to go about recovering this as my (now ex) employers say that they don't have a responsibility or an ability to pay me the money.

According to them, since they have filled out their side of the contract, that is paying my wages into the account I have been told I gave to them, they don't have to do anything.

The thing is though that the account numvber and sort code they use doesn't bear any resemblance to my current account or any other account I, or anyone else in my house, has.

What can I do to recover my wages?

How long did you work there? If it's only the one month, can they show you where you gave them those details? And if more than one month, can they show you why they changed those details?

May be worth contacting ACAS - even if it's a genuine mistake, them not doing anything to help correct it might be seen as unlawful deduction of wages.

if the bank do not recognise it either then sometimes send the money back to the employer, so they may well have it#

the ex employer can alternatively try and do a BACS recall
