BBC debt article
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-63285820 Anyone know why she didn't do a DRO? The article said she went bankrupt on CAP advice for 28k debt But we learn at the end of the article that she receives UC as well as her earnings - at that level it should not have been difficult to get her under the £75 surplus rule. Even…

Worried about arrears and defaults on a dmp
I have 28k in debt and had my first missed payment mark on my credit file, this was due to not paying the minimum payment amout, I'm on a dmp with Stepchange and paying as much as I can, do I just wait until it defaults? Does this then get passed onto a debt agency?? Wouldn't an IVA be better, is it normal to keep paying…

Links between financial institutions
Hi, With my oh about to default on his debts for the first time I’m wondering if there are any links between his creditors and his building society that we should be aware of, incase they try to take money out that they shouldn’t? If they can even do that.. He banks with Nationwide and owes money to Barclaycard, capital…

Defaults & DMP .... what next ?
Hi I entered into a DMP with Stepchange in August 2018 following 3 defaults dated May 2018. I have kept all payments to Stepchange and not incurred any other debt at all. If it wasn't for the 3 defaults I would have a very clean credit report. My question is about the future. From what I understand, the defaults are…

Posthumous Council Tax rebate
I have recently successfully challenged my Council Tax band so will be due some money from when I moved in. They have backdated this to 1993 and my grandmother paid the council tax from 1993 to 2014 - is her estate due a posthumous payout for the overpayment?

Longterm DMP advice and support needed
So I've recently had my lightbulb moment and have done the work to go through step changes process to get help and after everything the recommended solution is a DMP. My only hesitation is that it will be for 13 years 7 months. Obviously I know it'll be worth it in the long term and that's such a long time that I could…

Debt Management Plan Review
We are on a Debt Management Pkan and have just remortgaged. Our mortgage payments have doubled and we can afford them as we’re both self employed and earnings are actually increasing. I’m worried about the DMP now, as our income and outgoings are quite different. I’m thinking our creditors may well pick this up from our…

What Small Things Will You Do This Week?? 17/10/22
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

CCJ settled outside of month timeframe
Hi all I had a question that I was hoping I could get some guidance on. Essentially, I was issued with a CCJ claim form on the 16th August 2022 which I did not reply to, which related to an outstanding parking fine that I thought had gone away. I was then subsequently issued with the judgment on the 8th September 2022…
