Anyone know why she didn't do a DRO?

The article said she went bankrupt on CAP advice for 28k debt

But we learn at the end of the article that she receives UC as well as her earnings - at that level it should not have been difficult to get her under the £75 surplus rule.
Even now she says 'I can't afford to shop every week and use the food bank occasionally.

It says she built up debts with three children? And her daughter was 16 years old when the bailiffs turned up.

She's now a grandmother to seven children under 6 years old.

So my guess is that she went bankrupt before the DRO limit was raised but no-one on the programme bothered to explain the update?

Yes I think that's most likely. Shame no-one thought it worth mentioning that the bankruptcy was many years ago before the dro rules were made more flexible

The thing I find most distressing is the fact people try to struggle on, the best they can, for quite a long time, instead of seeking help earlier, so much of this could be nipped in the bud if only they sort help sooner.

The solutions exist, all that`s needed is the route to access that help, but folk tend to go for the loan option first, thinking that will solve matters, when it won`t, or get mugged by IVA pushers, all in all it`s a very sad indictment of 21st century Britain.
