I have an old loan which was originally with Lloyds that I have been paying off for 18 years, this has now been taken over by Idem Servicing who initially seemed helpful as I disputed the amount they said was still due. Requesting CCA information on a defaulted current account/overdraft
Hi, After years of paying £1/month to my creditors, I am now following the advice on this forum and will be writing to my creditors to see who can produce enforceable CCA-compliant documents (terms/conditions; payments and charges; etc). Having looked at one letter from a creditor, I think they've made a big mistake, which…

Template letter to enable assessment of account
Hi, I recently received a letter about an old debt, 4 years old. They've written lots of threats and stuff in the letters. Is there a letter I can write to them to by some time just two weeks, so I can access the debt? I just want to make sure I have all the facts correct and documents before I decide to pay off this debt.…

What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 14 August
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

Normally a lurker, but decided the time has come to hammer down my debts. Being honest, 90% of the debt has come from gambling. I havn't visited a casino now for over 6 months, and never will again, but ended up spending on a holiday and bought myself a cycle to get fit. i have posted my SOA, and any comments, harsh or…

I want to try to settle these, but have a few issues. One area I would like to…

Unable to meet debt repayments - help needed.
Hi all, I have been very stupid and got myself into a terrible mess and I can't see any way out of it. I don't expect any sympathy as it's all my own fault, but I'm hoping somebody may be able to offer advice I used to be quite good with managing my money until I had children. Since having children I have constantly…

Bank Error- financial and emotional impact on debt plan
Hi I really need some advice. Just over a year ago I broke up with my civil partner, who was controlling and abusive towards me. I paid all of the bills, our rent and she worked part time and contributed towards the food. When we broke up she made all kinds of threats and some of them financial. She said she was taking me…

Lowell County Court Judgement
I've received what looks like County Court Judgement documents today from Lowell Portfolio 1 Ltd. The debt they say is from 2012. I have no recollection of it. I've just purchased a copy of my credit report and it says the initial account was opened in 2008. I wasn't living at this address in 2008 but it doesn't give a…

Interest rates vrs overdraft rates
Why is it so disproportionately in favour of the bank? The amount you get charged for being overdrawn vrs what you earn in savings seems so unfair to me? I realise banks need to be profitable but why is there such a large gap? I have savings of £3,000 which gets 0.3% interest, yet if I was to go overdrawn I'd be charged…

Will full & final settlement (partial payment) damage my credit score?
Hi everyone, Step Change have advised that I can offer my creditors a full & final settlement figure as I will soon be in a position to pay back 71% of my total debt. I have 5 defaults in total - the last one dropping off after 6 years in 7 months. What I would really like to know is should I jump at the chance to become…
