I received a letter this morning from Capquest saying they are working for Capital One and want a payment from me of £4531.51 within 7 days. I simply cannot pay this, it says in the letter if I can't pay it to contact them. What should I do? I'm really scared because I have loads of other debts also.

Okay, who else can't pay their Tax Bill ?
After worrying about it for too long I have finally drummed up the courage to write to HMRC today and say that there is no way that we can pay DH tax Bill due in January 2009. Exactly this week last year the housebuilders in our area just stopped building and DH being in the trade, lost his job. We managed to pay January…

A question about consolidation
I have read more than once that consolidation is a bad idea. I understand why consolidating to a mortgage isn't great but don't understand why consolidating to a cheaper rate credit card or loan is? Am I missing something?
