Online statements

I had a bit of argy bargy with Tesco personal finance this month. No doubt another hit to my credit rating
.
Had been trying to phone them and getting nothing but 'press 1 for this 2 for that....eventually put on hold for an age, never getting to speak to anyone and sat on a premium rate number ( Now got No 2 0870 in my favorites!)
Anyway...I tried using the online system, after weeks of messing about with vastly ott security I finally got online, checked my balance - as thats all I was after and continued as normal.
Next thing, I get a letter saying I've been charged for not paying on time, I need to make a payment I have to call - I try, but get a machine. I get another letter, I've gone over my limit (due to the late payment charge)
Anyhow, got narked off with it, paid off (inc the £24 charges) and cancelled the card.
Had a letter from them - apparently when I set up the online account I was switched to online statements. I never made the payment because I didn't know it was due. Never got the email or a letter saying I should look out for an email, I've been switched to paperless billing.
Anyhow, they apologised and offered the £24 back.
Ignoring all the rambling above, my actual point for posting was that, if you are not using DD, be wary of being switched to paperless billing without your knowledge. You can easily miss payments.

i have a TCC and was wondering when my statement was going to arrive, so if you have an online account do you not get a paper statement through the post. this will be my 1st statement and i,m glad i have paid this months via online. i am going to ring them tonight as i've not been told i'm not going to receive a paper statement.0 -
Hi My bank send me a monthly email saying the statement is on line. You may want to put a date in your diary to check monthly (I usually check mine on payday as that is a day I will remember!)Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

same as Cap 1 and Egg do they send emails promting you to visit the site and login..0

Got an Egg account too. Not had problems with them, just the Tesco one.
Best thing is to have the DD set up for minimum then at least you won't have that late payment hit. Prob was, I was in a cash job at the time so paid all my bills in cash, nothing through DD.0 -
Tesco send me an email every month to view my latest statement

Just been looking on my online account. In the View and manage personal details section the setting was
allready selected -> i prefer to get my statements online so i changed it to please post me my statement.
So it looks like it's default setting is not to get paper bills which would catch a lot out, even if the email address
is correct i don't know where mine went to but i got nowt. i'm on the ball though as i allways check online and make my payment that way.0 -
Hi Could the email have been stopped by your spam filter? I would look in your junk box to see if they went there.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0
