Gym membership - Credit check?

Hi everyone. My boyfriend decided to renew his gym membership yesterday which he normally pays in full, in cash. However with Xmas coming up and a holiday, he decided to go for the monthly direct debit. Now he had some debts in the past from his student days which were deafaulted and he is now paying off gradually. Obviously his credit rating is poor from his previous rash financial decisions. I dont think he realised that this gym membership entailed signing a credit agreement etc. Now with him having paid the deposit and signed the agreement what is the likelyhood of it being rejected upon a credit check?

I know he can afford it and he is far more responsible now, in fact he's rather tight lol, but hes now worried about it being rejected and having the embarassment of being told so in a busy gym!

Anyone know? The agreement is with Leisure Finance plc and the gym is impulse fitness.

Thanks
