Feeling very down
Don't think there is much in the way of advice, just need to offload ... Two years ago my husband and I ran a company together. We expanded too fast and had to go into a CVA while the company assets were sold. This is still going on, as one of the major creditors cannot agree their account and the calculation of our debts…

Apossible solution to debts
I ahve been visiting here although I am right now debt free. Several years ago I had a boyfriend who had a huge debt with a high street bank. it was I think 40K. I got on the phone and wrote to them and said that he was distressed, had no assets other than the family home with his children and that I would pay to have them…

IVA - One off payment
Hi all, I have heard of people paying a one off payment for an IVA. I have debts of £32,000 which I would like to write off. From what I can see I could pay c.25% of this amount off over 5 years and write off the remaining 75%. Is it possible to pay this 25% as a one off payment at the start of the IVA? Would any more…

I feel like giving up and joining the rest of the world again
I've budgeted up to end of June and to stay on target seems so hard. We have next to no spare money left and all the money we have saved will go on an offer for full and final settlement to Moorcroft (which knowing our luck they will reject). I just feel like taking the money and blowing it on a weekend away or some new…

Self employed and in debt
Hi all, I'm in a bit of a strange position, as I have debt but not on credit cards and have no fixed monthly income with which to make budgeting easy. My husband walked out at the New Year, and I've decided to take the bull by the horns and get the finances sorted. I own a craft shop, and as I'm trying to build the…

First time post/long time lurker
Hello everyone :o I’ve been reading snippets of this site and forum for a while now, but I’ve finally taken the plunge and decided it was about time my wife and I got our finances in order. This has come about from an embarrassing event in my local bike shop. I’d dropped my mountain bike in for some much needed repairs,…

Suckered Punched
Hi All, This is a bit of a dreary one from me, and I do hope I don't drag anyone else down with me! I feel like I'm letting the side down here but I've just hit a brick wall. I know I haven't been doing the whole DFW thing too long, but in all honesty Im starting to feel like I'm just not cut out for it. My head doesnt…

lodger advice - help
Hi A year ago I took in a lodger who I used to work with. He has always lived in shared houses or lodged from someone. But I think he takes liberties. He is the first lodger I've had and as he is sort of a friend, I didn’t set any "rules" and didn’t ask for him to pay a deposit either. Number of times I’ve had to remind…

What have you spent - Fri 28/4/06
Hello, sorry for being retrospective and I hope it doesn't confuse anyone having this thread out of sync but I'd like to post my spends per day so I can look back at them and thought others might too. So - Friday. I spent: £2.50 parking (and nearly gave myself a breakdown, trying to parallel park in a too small space.)…

Is this a good idea
Folks, I've a mortgage balance of around 98K on house valued at 95K last year. Now probably worth 105K. paying 530 a month to NR ( repayment) - no tie in. I have 11.5K on 0% CC and 5K student loans (?3.9%). Should I go to interst only mortgage??? Then have more cash to be able to snowball my other debts quicker.
