Money transfers and credit history
It's a long time since I played these games. Can anybody remind me how money transfers are shown in the credit history? It's Barclaycard if this makes any difference. I know, ATM withdrawals have only minor negative effect, but prefer to avoid even this.

The logic behind "reducing credit limit because of high utilisation"
Just received a letter today from Barclaycard dated 26 May, saying that on 30 May they're reducing my credit limit from 8200 to 7250 "to reduce risk" blah blah. I took advantage of their money transfer offer and transferred 90% of the available credit limit. Some people on this forum said they used to make money transfer…

Refunds
I purchased a refurbished golf watch from factory outlet store. The watch is defective. I paid with my credit card. I have requested a refund but the emails I received from the company only mention credit/ Exchange. As the watch is not “fit for purpose“ it is my understanding that I am entitled to a refund even though in…

Credit Card Question
Hi, I'm attempting to get myself out a pretty heavy debt situation. At this point I'm manageable, as in I can afford all my monthly payments, I haven't missed a payment and in many of the cards I'm paying off much more than the minimum each month. However the issue has been that on one of my cards I've been spending quite…

My husband's cards have been lost but he can't report it
My husband was diagnsed a while ago with a malignant brain tumour, and was having (palliative) treatment for it. 3 weeks ago (while I was away on business) he collapsed in our house early one morning, was (luckily) found by the decorator, and was taken to hospital. He went overnight from full time work, fully independent…

Barclaycard CC eligibility
Hi all, 5 years ago I entered in to an IVA (reluctantly) - Barclaycard was one of my creditors. I am now slowly rebuilding my reports after discharging myself in October last year. I regularly review MSE Credit Club, Clearscore and Credit Karma to ensure my details are fully accurate and up to date. Today I have done a CC…

Transfer to empty card
Hi, I'm trying to transfer from an amazon card, but no providers seem to recognise the number (or allow transfers to/from it). I've transferred to a different (empty) card before and then been able to get the credit balance sent to my bank. Has anyone got stuck doing this, I.e empty card refuses to send to bank, or just…

Avoid Negative Credit Score When Cancelling a Card
My understanding is that when you cancel a credit card (that was in good standing, i.e. balance fully paid), this then presents itself as a "negative" within your credit score. For years, I've avoided this by keeping cards I don't really want or need and making a small purchase every six months or so and then paying it off…

Balance Transafer Card - Maximum Amount
There seems to be plenty of choice for balance transfer cards, but at what point are you told what the maximum amount you can transfer is? I don't want it to be after the company has checked all my details because by that point there's been a mark on your credit file and if the amount is low then you may want to go for…

BA AMEX or B’card Avios?
I currently have a BA Amex CC which I obtained in order to collect Avios points. The annual fee is £250. However, I am now getting a B’card Avios Mastercharge (which more retailers are likely to accept v’s Amex) and will be able to collect my Avios points that way. Will I lose out in any way with BA if I then ditch my BA…

Balance transfer fee question
Hi. I am considering transferring a credit card balance from M&S to a new Sainsbury card offering a No balance transfer fee. However, and I am new to this, - the current M&S details a charge of 2.9% of the balance transferred. When I used the M&S chat it stated that a one time balance transfer fee is payable every time you…

Hi everyone. Could someone recommend me a prepaid Visa Debit card that I can top up with cash at my local post office, please? 0% credit card for overseas holiday and maintaining credit record?
I joined MSE specifically ask this question, so I apologise in advance for my lack of understanding and any violations of forum etiquette.
