Hotel restaurant holding amount
I am staying away for a few days next month. I tried to book a table in the hotel restaurant and on the booking page it says it will hold £20 just in case we don’t turn up. This is absolutely fine with me. So I went through to the payment page. Not only does it say they will hold £20 but they also want to hold an…

Colleague accidentally maxed out my credit card
Long story short, we needed to make an urgent purchase at work yesterday so I allowed a junior colleague to use my personal credit card. It has a £6.5k limit and had no other purchases on it. I always save it for emergencies like this and just claim back in expenses a few days later and pay it off immediately.…

Capital One Credit Limit
Hi all, does anyone know if Capital one cards have any scope of going above £1500? It says on their website at the application page, max limit 1500, but I'm not sure if this is the max initial limit, or the max limit all together. Thanks in advance

CCA request - creditors say looking for document
Hi I have revived a response from PRA group to my CCA request and they say they are looking for the documentation - they replied one day after I sent my original request. What does this mean? They don’t have it to hand or they are genuinely looking? Debt was from 2016 so I am not convinced they have lost it but any…

Reward/Cashback cards that can be paid with Curve?
Any suggestions? I use a Barclaycard reward card for purchases that do not accept Amex, but cannot earn anything when I pay it off. If only I could use Curve then I could earn Clubcard points by making payment with the debit card on my Tesco bank account.

Deferred now need to re-pay
I had a credit card with vanquis which I kept up the payments on until June 2017 when I was then on maternity leave & used the defer scheme due to lower income. Last year I was made redundant so continued the defer payments. Now I am employed & they will no longer defer payments understandably. Can I negotiate a reduced…

Tesco Credit Card .QIF download gone missing
This week Tesco Credit Card silently removed the ability to download transactions in .qif format. This probably doesn't affect many users, but for those of us it does affect it is a real pain. They provide the ability to download .csv and .tsv but these are non-standard formats that makes it very hard to import into other…

Partnership card application rejected
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone on these forums could help. Recently got rejected for the John Lewis Partnership credit card and I can't work out why. After ringing them I was simply told they don't have access to the reasons behind a rejection. They use Experian as their CRA, and I've checked my score with them which is…

Clubcard Points for Tesco Credit Card
Good Morning MSE and MSE'rs. Has anyone else noticed that Tesco Clubcard states on their website that you should get 5 points for every £4 of fuel. In breakdown this is 1 extra point for every £4 Tesco fuel spend for having the credit card but also 4 normal points for the £4 Tesco spend as you would get on a normal…

Amex chargecard reporting balance to credit agencies?
Hi everyone, I have an American Express charge card which has to be repaid in full each month and I have a DD set up to take the full payment each month. However, when I see the card on credit agencies Amex is reporting the full balance every month! This makes it look like I'm in more debt than I am - e.g. last month I had…

Nationwide Credit Card "Glitch" and compensation - you have to ask.
Yesterday my Nationwide Credit Card was unexpectedly declined twice with consequent embarrassment. (I am actually in credit at the moment.) I waited on the phone for over 30 minutes last night to no avail. This morning got through and a chirpy voice said "Oh Yes, it was a glitch in the system yesterday, all credit cards…

How to Escape a High Interest Credit Card
Hi all, after a bit of advice. I have a Marbles high interest credit card with about £3000 on it and my limit is £4000. I had a bad credit rating but now its very good. I always pay off the minimum, sometimes a bit more and every so often I pay off some bigger chunks. I've let it run on when I should have dealt with it now…

Paying off student loan with credit card
Before the MSE Forum pedants all jump on me, I'll admit I've already posted this in the section on student finance, but the lack of response or interest suggests I probably should have posted it here instead. I also apologise if this has been covered previously, but I've got a Plan 1 student loan which is going to be paid…

Help with Section 75 rules
Hi everyone I’m currently in a dispute with our builder. We are building a new self build property and instructed a building company to construct the shell. They provided us with a full breakdown of costs in the form of a document at the start which detailed the cost per stage of the build. Unfortunately there was no…

Barclays and Barclaycard
A few days ago I was on the phone with the Barclays lending team about my overdraft. Speaking with them, advised me of the Barclaycard Platinum and of the fact that she could see that I would be approved with a 1k limit. But told me to apply online. Went through the eligibility checker and got a message saying “we can’t…

I also have one with PRA group for £5000 and want to offer £2000 do you think they’d accept this too? Any experience with f&f with these companies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Section 75
Does anyone know if you can make a section 75 claim after a chargeback claim has been refused on the same claim. I have been rejected for a chargeback claim for a cancelled hotel booking by Virgin as I had previously submitted a claim for the same booking but then discontinued it after eventually being offered a credit…

Balance transfer to M & S
I applied and got a M & S credit card so I could transfer the balance from my JAJA (formally Post Office) credit card to it. However, I've tried to do the BT and it hasn't worked. I contacted M&S to find out why it hadn't been successful and the answer was " the JAJA card is not on the list of cards available for Balance…
