Clubcard Points for Tesco Credit Card

Good Morning MSE and MSE'rs.
Has anyone else noticed that Tesco Clubcard states on their website that you should get 5 points for every £4 of fuel.

In breakdown this is 1 extra point for every £4 Tesco fuel spend for having the credit card but also 4 normal points for the £4 Tesco spend as you would get on a normal clubcard.

This has come to light for me and I happened to check my last two clubcard statements.

Turns out that Tesco Credit Card /Tesco Clubcard haven't been issuing the extra points for having the credit card.

Example.

I spent £40 on my Tesco credit card paying at pump. All I received on my clubcard statement was 40 points.

This has been happening consistently when I checked back my two clubcard statements (that's all I can see when I log in).

This may not sound much but on average I fill up with around £40-50 diesel every week so am in theory missing c.10-12 extra points each week.

I have had the Tesco credit card since 2019! That's a heck of a lock of points missed and I 98% of the time fill up at Tesco and always use the credit card and clear in full each month. This equates to around 500-520 extra points missed per year.

Wondering if any other keen Tesco credit card/clubcard users have also or can also check back and advise what they receive.

I raised this with clubcard directly as you would think this is a points issue. I was told to chase it up with the credit card.

Surely not?!?

That would seem the right advice, it the credit card is not sending through the correct data to identify the additional points.

Make sure you link your clubcard CC to your regular clubcard account - there is a separate clubcard number for the CC printed on the back of your card. If you scan your clubcard at the POS, your normal points get credited to your regular clubcard account but the extra ones from the CC spending get credited to your clubcard CC. I found it was fairly easy to get that sorted by contacting clubcard CS and asking them to link the two accounts when I noticed I was missing points. If you've already done that then I'd query it with Tesco Bank directly.

Thanks. I will contact the credit card but didn't feel I should have to do this as it's all Tesco and all their points.

My credit card clubcard is already linked as it is always that one I use and it is showing points getting credited....just not the correct amount to include the extra ones that they advertise on the credit card web page.

Is anyone else able to log into their clubcard account to see if they also are only getting say 40 points for a £40 fuel.l spend when using the Tesco credit card?

It's quite confusing. In order to get 5 Clubcard points per £4 spent, you need to use your Credit Card as the Clubcard.
You will get 1 Clubcard point per £1 spent on Fuel from Tesco Stores (as opposed to 1 Clubcard point per £2 spent with a normal Clubcard)
You will also get 1 Clubcard point per £4 spent at Tesco (including fuel) from Tesco Bank.

If you scan your normal Clubcard and pay with your Tesco Credit Card, you will only get 3 points per £4 spent as opposed to 5.

I am using the credit card clubcard to both pay and use as clubcard. Still...all I am receiving for a £40 fuel spend is 40 points. It's like they forget to issue the extra points.

Remove the filter on 'Tesco Alloa PFS'. Can you see a transaction for TB CREDIT CARD TESCO SPEND on or around the same date for 8 points?

See here for an example from my card:

As you can see, the two payments are separate - presumably the bank points are applied at the time the transaction completes.

(Note the earnings rate on mine differs as I'm on the retired 'Premium' Credit Card product, so I get 1 pt £ from Tesco Bank)

Why on earth is it done like this.
I did realise now after your post WillPS that mines are credited on different dates,but that on the whole they do appear to tally.

Thanks you SOOOOOOOO much. This was starting to stress me out.

Out of interest the premium card I researched earlier as I was digging into the credit card website FAQs and emailing them etc. However they no longer offer the premium card to new people. This is very annoying as for our circumstances the family travel insurance and the in effect double clubcard points on fuel spend etc would be amazing value for us for the £150/yr card fee.

Again, cannot thank you enough.

You should get a job for Tesco clubcard customer services!
