Using 0% card to pay off car
So I was reading the MSE email and saw the "Longest-EVER 42mth 0% debt shift" section... normally I skip over this as I have no credit card debts that I can't pay off during the month, but it suddenly occurred to me that I do have a debt for my car. I'm using VW finance and probably have about £10k left to pay on it…

Hi all, apologies if this is a daft question, but, lets say for argument sake I have 2 credit cards, one with a zero balance and one with (for arguments sake) £5000 owing. Lets also say for easy reckoning that the oldest £2500 of that £5000 balance is already on a 0% deal which I want to leave where it is. Recent…

Bike stolen - paid on credit card...
My bike was stolen today, have reported it to the Met Police but I'm not confident anything will come of it. Bike was locked up outside Greenwich Uni, I paid cash from my account to the CC to boost my limit then paid the bike company direct from my CC for the bike less than 90 days ago. How do I go about claiming the money…

using more than one card for paying holiday
Hi all Here's one for you....if I pay a deposit on a holiday using one credit card and the balance using another later on (because a good offer comes along) if something happens to the company, what would happen in terms of liability. Is it proportional or what? Yes it's probably not a good idea but what's the reality…

Nationwide Select CC for travel
I wondered why the Nationwide Select CC isn't really rated as a travel CC. It has no commission so that's a bonus. Any reasons why it's not more highly rated?

Paying off car finance - Cresit Card or Loan
I would like to pay off my outstanding debt for my hire-purchase car with either a Credit Card or a Loan because of the current high rate of interest. Is it better to do this with a credit card or a personal loan? The outstanding amount is about £3,500 and I've been told that the finance company (Motonovo) charge a 3%…

Bravo Nationwide!
Got a text at 2am this morning from Nationwide asking if a transaction for £300 odd was mine - the usual press Y for Yes or to phone a number. Went back to sleep as I wasn't going to phone them at that time. Got a phone call at 10am asking the same thing - was it my transaction or not? I said no and after going through…

Hi, first time getting a credit card. Need it for buying a rail season ticket which extends over several months (so a big expense), and I want to make the minimum monthly payments on this spend so as to lessen the impact on my bank balance. It's a Virgin Credit Card which offers 0% for 27 months on purchases (then 19.9%…

Amex protection on a card payment for a holiday?
Paying for a holiday abroad. 50% is paid by one Amex card 50% is paid by another Amex card. Any issues with claiming from Amex if the villa does not materialise? Will two cards / accounts complicate matters? I am not going to use a 0% rate card just in case of any issues as I would rather have Amex to fall back on to.
