Amex protection on a card payment for a holiday?

Paying for a holiday abroad.

50% is paid by one Amex card
50% is paid by another Amex card.

Any issues with claiming from Amex if the villa does not materialise?

Will two cards / accounts complicate matters?

I am not going to use a 0% rate card just in case of any issues as I would rather have Amex to fall back on to.

You are covered under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act which makes the credit card company jointly liable for any breach of contract or misrepresentation by the retailer. But s75 only applies if you bought direct from a retailer and not through an agent or if you bought the service from the credit card company whose credit card you used to pay.

You might also get 90 days refund protection from American Express. Doubtful that you'll get the 90 days purchase protection. But the protection doesn't apply to all American Express cards: Check your T&Cs.
