Amex unrecognised transaction

in Credit cards
Hello everyone,
This website and forum has been very helpful to me. With all your advices, I managed within two years to go from no credit cards to multiple mainstream and premium credit cards with very good limits. All managed responsibly.
I own an Everyday Platinum Amex credit card. I do not use it much anymore, because I like to keep track of my spending instantly using Monzo. Amex sends a weekly alert informing about new debts or credits and I noticed a strange increase of about £8.
I logged online and found a transaction from a pub with a date from last week. However, I did not go to that pub last week and the card is always with me, so no one could have used it without me knowing that it is missing. I then noticed that the 'processed date' was from April 2016!! That is 6 months ago! Obviously, I don't remember if I went to that pub 6 months ago.
Is it possible that Amex delayed to charge me for so long? I contacted Amex and they opened a case for investigation. Meanwhile, they told me that they would reverse the transaction until they come up with a resolution within 6 to 8 weeks.
It is not a big amount of money, but I don't understand how a charge (if it is correct at all) appears 6 months later.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Could well be a delayed transaction, especially if it's a place that you've been to on occasion. It's not uncommon.0

Whilst only a small amount it's quite poor business practice to charge this several months late, cash flow is king and all that.
Ultimately so long as you're happy that it is a correct transaction then no harm done, unless you are running your finances to the extent that it has an impact in which case you probably need to review your economic view on life.
I seem to recall that over six months they would have to notify and represent, you would still owe the money for up to six years anyway.0 -

Obviously this is a very small amount and it won't harm my finances. Amex is investigating, I guess they will ask for proof of sale from the merchant? Probably a copy of the receipt from back then?
I'll wait and see what Amex says, but I am happy to pay if this is a genuine transaction.0
