Part transfer of card balance

Hi all, apologies if this is a daft question, but, lets say for argument sake I have 2 credit cards, one with a zero balance and one with (for arguments sake) £5000 owing.

Lets also say for easy reckoning that the oldest £2500 of that £5000 balance is already on a 0% deal which I want to leave where it is. Recent unexpected events have meant I have now added a further £2500 balance to the card.

My other card provider is offering a good balance transfer deal but my question is, if I do a balance transfer for £2500 to the other card, will it be the newer debt that moves across, or could it be the older £2500 which is already on a 0% deal?

Again, apologies if this is a stupid question!

Thanks

Paul.
