Pay off loan with credit card?
Hi all, I was thinking of getting a credit card with 0% for 12 months and using it to pay off my car loan. I have nearly saved enough to pay it off but thought it might be worth paying it off on 0%????? Would this qualify for 0%. Am I able to do this? Many thanks

Sainsbury's, Virgin(MBNA) and Barclaycard reduced limits in one week
Its my first post but I'm a bit of a lurker on here so am pretty much up to speed with all of the tricks the CC companies get up to in trying to lure money out of you, and have notched up 12 credit cards over the years as I never keep a balance past its offer period. I just thought I'd give a heads up to people with…

Ban the use of credit cards for gambling.
I have serious debt problems due to gambling, i have found this online petition, please, please, please sign it and pass on to anyone you know. Halifax One card - abroad
I've just applied for a Halifax One card for specific use when I go on my holidays to the USA next month. I've realised that I forgot to check if the 0% on purchases was still valid if I use it overseas. Does anyone know (I don't have the card yet) if there is anything in the T&C's relating to this? I assume I'll get a…

Can I use 0% purchase CC to make mortgage payments?
Apols if this has been asked before - I looked but couldn't find an answer. We have a new CC which gives us 0% on purchases for a year. We also could do a bal xfer, but it would cost us 3% flat fee. What I wonder is if I can make mortgage payments using the CC, would this be counted as 'purchases'? Then we could save the…

Closing credit cards with positive balance
Hi there, First post time! Been a lurker for years! Anyway, I'm about to close a number of credit cards as I've paid them all off, but at least two of them have positive (i.e. overpaid) balances of at least £50. Will that money be refunded as part of the closure process - by cheque or whatever? I assume they would have to…

Should I own a Credit Card even though I do not need credit?
Hi everyone, I do not have a credit card but I have been advised by a friend to get one as he seems to think that this will help obtain a mortgage and secure an emergency loan (should I need one). This does not make any sense to me as surely being debt free and having a secure permanant job is enough to get a mortgage/loan…

Hello All Very simple question... I have been looking at the prepaid cards available, like the Sun one and various others. You load your money, then they all seem to charge for spending it. Then I looked at the Egg Money Card... it seems as though you load your money (FREE) and then spend it (FREE), you even get interest…
