Ban the use of credit cards for gambling.

I have serious debt problems due to gambling, i have found this online petition, please, please, please sign it and pass on to anyone you know.

Although people in this country have the right to gamble, the government should ensure that people cannot use credit cards to pay for their stake in UK casinos and online gambling and therefore run up huge debts.

If they restrict people to using debit cards then they can only gamble with the money they actually have! They should also be compelled to use system that check with the bank and do not allow people to exceed their overdraft limits.

It won't stop people loosing all of their money, but it will stop them getting so badly into debt.

It will also stop casinos and online gambling sites from exploiting peoples debt!

  • With all due respect, preventing the use of credit cards with betting sites is going to do nothing to stop the determined gambler, and make it harder for the casual user to use the site.

I think this petition is ill-thought out.

People should take more responsibility for their own actions, not keep blaming the Government for self-made problems.

No thanks, not that i'm interested in online gambling, however people really dont need to be told what to use there credit card for.
  • Isn't online gambling treated as a cash advance by most credit card issuers - meaning no interest-free period and higher interest rates in most cases?

I know that won't put off the determined gambler, but it would make some people (including me) think twice - not that I gamble anyway!

Remarkable that the OP registered today.

No sympathy for anyone in debt due to gambling.

Self control solves the problem, not Labour passing yet more unneccessary legislation.

40 brain dead individuals have signed it so far I see...
