You already can't use credit cards to buy lottery tickets/scratchcards

The answer is in your head my friend and not in your wallet.

juno, do you know of a petition to allow the purchase of lottery tickets and scratchcards with credit cards? Seems like an unfortunate and undesirable inconvenience when doing the shopping and wanting to make a single payment for all purchases.

I don't. What credit card do you know that you can take down to William Hills and spend over £2,000,000 on?

First off, he did it online.

Second, it was a series of bets. If he has the funds to spend £2m on a series of bets, who's to say they weren't done by credit card?

Thirdly, my point was that since that story hit the news, there's been a pile of threads on various forums about the evils of gambling and how it should be made more difficult.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

    There's always buying them online.

Should you be allowed to buy booze with credit cards ?

Also If I exceed the 70 MPH limit on a motorway and get a ticket , I will sue Honda for selling me a car that can run at 115MPH.

Have to go now ...I'm in the middle of writing a letter to McDonalds for letting me eat all those BigMacs. It's all thier fault I'm getting fat.

You definitely can do in both Tesco and Co-op stores. I believe most allow it now. Initially, Camelot didn't allow it - now they don't seem to mind.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

Dont see why the rest of us should suffer because some stupid bloke gambled his life away........................

What annoys me is that this country allows people to play the hard done by trick and get free houses, dss, compensation and lots of pats on the back. Meanwhile the rest of us who work hard to achieve and manage our lives and money responsibly get nothing but a big f u c k y o u.......

Makes you want to stop trying, get some kids, a council house and spend my life down William Hill with a can of Special Vat. When you want to retire just sue William Hill and move to Spain................. nice!

Mildly amusing article in The Guardian yesterday about him: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/feb/16/gambling
His argument is that the betting chain "failed in its duty of care" by allowing him to bet after he had requested "self-exclusion", and should pay back his losses. "If I'd known I had the problem and didn't do anything about it, I would see myself as being 100% responsible," he bleats mournfully. "The fact is that I did try to go through the right procedures and I was let down." Which roughly translates as: "I'm stupid, and I told you I was stupid, so you had a duty to stop me being stupid."

Graham, dear, you seem to have confused William Hill with your mum.
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

Zebedee69, it is worth remembering that people do get addicted to gambling, smoking, drinking and all sorts of other things. It's eventually not a 100% voluntary choice even though the solution does belong with the gambler themselves dealing with their problem.
