Usually capped at £25 however there are some trial uncapped offers. 2. Abbey and Alliance & Leicester. Charge a 2% balance transfer fee UNLESS the balance transfer is done on the…

New Abbey 9-month 0% card
Hi Abbey are coming out with a new 9 month 0% card to replace the six month card that is currently on offer. My friendly financial adviser at the branch told me this when I walked into the branch last week to apply for one. He told me he's not supposed to tell, but it might be worthwhile waiting for a week to take…

Halifax change Terms and Conditions
Just received notification that Halifax are changing two significant terms: "In certain circumstances we may return balance transfers that result in a large credit on your account back to your other card provider" Good job this is the regular purchases card, not the stoozing card I thought, then I get to: "Removal of…

Credit card US ATM charges correction
Hi Martin - what a superb website! With reference to this foreign card use page, I've got one comment on it, with a moneysaving suggestion: Practically all US ATMs specify that the $1.50-$1.75 charge is to US cardholders only - so if you use a British card, you are not charged it. You can see this on your bank statement -…

Help I'm getting spammed by egg
I keep getting several text messages a day telling me to ring egg urgently, and I have done for the past month. Problem is that they're for the guy who used to have my phone. I have no contact details for this guy. It's thoroughly annoying and Egg refuse to do anything about it, they say I'll have to wait until the account…

Card Protection Plan
Hello Are the Card Protection plans, such as CPP really worth having. Even though it only cost £12.00 per annum, you are already protected by your card company for liability after the first £10-30 if your cards are stolen or lost. So what's the difference, it seems a waste of money! Am I right? Regards William

Are 0% cards going to end?
There are more press stories that 0% cards offers will end. They stem from a report (sponsored by Capital One) which concludes it's flat rate cards everyone wants (which 'co-incidentally is exactly what Capital One promotes). So what's the real score? 0% cards are here to stay, but there's a rapid growth of balance…

Cahoot £50 cashback for balance transferring £1,500
I received a letter yesterday offering me £50 if I transfer £1,500 to my Cahoot credit card before May 2005. Sounds very tempting. At the moment all my debt is with Capital1 at 0% until May 2006 but it looks like I can move £1500 to cahoot for a while then move it back to Cap1, still at 0%. Cahoot charge about 1% a month…

Virgin Card.
Can anyone advise on this. I have a virgin one account and wondered, given that the Virgin Credit card allows "super transfers" whether I could write a chunk of my mortgage off on to the interest free deal. When you do your balance transfer is it by cheque or account detail and would they allow this ? Sneaky huh ?
