in Credit cards
hi there as an existing customer of barclaycard for the last four and a half years just before christmas last year i managed to clear my card to a zero balance i didnt use it for a few months and then rang to ask if i could do a balance transfer from one of my other cards, i was told no as my credit score was to low and to contact equifax and experian this i did and all seemed to be in order i have never had trouble getting credit i have a mortgage, bank loan and three other credit cards. So i rang barclaycard and told them that my reports all seemed to be in order and could i do a bt please only to be told once again no, well this time i was speaking to somebody else who came up with the reason that because my card had been inactive for a while i would havre to start using it again so they could monitor how i conducted it and i shouldnt have a problem if i try again in a few months time, this i have done today and even though last month on my statement they have upped my limit by another eighteen hundred quid they still wont let me do a bt, the guy on the end of the phone said if i wanted answers i would have to contact the credit ref agencies. I declined doing this agian as it is costing me money and even though i dont have them to hand any more there was nothing wrong with them. Anyone got any ideas as to why they will up my limit but say my credit rating is to low to do a bt

Very strange . Definitely this has nothing to do with CRAs and your credit history. They just give you this reason as an excuse. As soon as Barclaycard gave you some credit limit and you can use it for purchases there is no difference for them if you use this limit for balance transfer.0
