Stoozing - the risks
As one of the early Stoozers and the author of the Motley Fool FAQ on Stoozing, I am glad to see that other people are making money from credit cards. However, I get concerned when people throw themselves into it without being aware of the risks. If you have a mega-attention to detail, Stoozing is fairly straightforward,…

A new approach for members needs?
There are a lot of questions on this chat forum that appears on a regular basis ( i.e. repeated/similar questions), mainly from new/newer members. I was wondering if the Credit Cards section of this chat forum could be sub divided into three sections, namely beginners, intermediates and experts? That way members can give…

Missing Statements - What to do?
Hi, This is my first post so please forgive if I'm not following etiquette - still learning. Need to give some background before I ask my question: I've been moving from 0% deal to 0% deal for sometime now. Around a year ago I picked up a 0% deal from MBNA for six months. As that deal ended I moved to another 6 month deal…

Halifax end of 0% and their 3.9% offer
My 9months 0% ended on the halifax one card a few days ago. And as per the letter I got in early Nov 04, that I had to do nothing, and thta my rate on the balance transfer would be 3.9%, after the 0% ends. I let the debt sit there instead of paying it off. Now I see my first online statement and it shows an APR rated…

Is it really this easy!
Im considering trying to earn some money back from the credit card companies, and have read many threads on here with interest. But do I understand the principles correctly, as it seems so simple? Currently I have an Egg card with no balance, which is not in its interest free period. I have a second card (Card A) with a 7k…

Wealth Creation with Interest Free Offers
I know this is a bit off-topic but nonetheless it may be of interest to many that frequent these forums. I just realised that I could borrow a few thousand with my latest credit card and have only a 2% admin fee and no interest apply to it, if I used the cheque book facility. I have thought of various strategies on how to…

Can over-stoozing cause any damage?
If you stooze to the absolute max, might it cause any long term damage to your credit worthiness? I presume not if you do it properly and pay all payments on time, but I'd appreciate comments. If not, then are we all doing this to the absolute hilt with every card on offer? I've currently got just over 50K, but there are…

Is it best to mention balance to transfer?
I have been accepted for a Lloyds TSB card but i was just wondering if it makes a difference to your acceptance or your credit limit if you tell them that you have a balance amount to be transfered to their card on your application, or wait until you have the card in your hand, What's the best thing to do ?

Capital One 18 Month Card with a Massive Limit!
After a very rocky start - not receiving forms etc from capitalone one they have come up trumps for me with a 16K Limit! Now the thing is it’s a bit late. I originally had a 14K Balance with Halifax. God knows how they came up with that figure I’m not complaining although I’m glad I didn’t give up in the end. When I set up…

Nationwide Credit Card v Princess Cruises
I am travelling on a cruise from Sydney to Auckland and plan to use my NW card to save the currency conversion rate. In the welcome pack, Princess say that on all cards issued outside of the US and not billed in US dollars, they charge 3% for the currency conversion charge. If I do not want my charges to be converted to UK…

Capital One "Forgot" to request my DD
This month Cap One did not take my usual monthly payment (minimum payment) from my bank account by direct debit. Money was there, they just did not present a request for it. As a result, I am now over my limit! I await the overlimit charges! Silence is deafening from Cap One about it. Anyone else had this problem this…

Sainsbury's Card, OK if unemployed?
I'm currently between jobs (so to speak!) and want to have the Sainsbury's card as it sounds like a useful thing to have, even though I have no plans to use it at the moment. Is it worth applying if I'm unemployed and do I have to tell them that? Also I know the USwitch site says there are no fees, but being a newbie to…

Buying from Aussie website using credit card
My friend lives in Australia and I wanted to send her kids some pressies for Christmas, so instead of paying postage from here I thought it would be better to buy some things from an Aussie website and have them delivered to her house. If I use my credit card I assume I will be charged 2.5%? If so, I could use my…

Company pension - NI loophole?
:-/ There was a report on the Five Live breakfast show about ten days ago which mentioned that some large companies like Tesco have changed the way they pay company pension contributions to avoid national insurance for the employee, therefore saving them 11% on their contributions. I couldn't get my head around this - can…
