Capital One 18 Month Card with a Massive Limit!

After a very rocky start - not receiving forms etc from capitalone one they have come up trumps for me with a 16K Limit! Now the thing is it’s a bit late. I originally had a 14K Balance with Halifax.
God knows how they came up with that figure I’m not complaining although I’m glad I didn’t give up in the end. When I set up my Nationwide account at the weekend they were only offering 6 months with a limit of 3.8kish…!
Current Position:
Have transferred 5K to Lloyds’s advance card. – Also another new card.
Have about 6kish remaining on the Halifax Card paying 3.9% since 6th Dec, obviously this will get transferred.
£700 on a Barclaycard. To be transferred.
That now leaves around 9kish shall I switch it into my Egg card have 4k limit with them then the bank? Then do it over again? Any charges for these.
Advice and ideas please – thanks.

Did you apply for the CapitalOne online, or was it by post? How long did the whole thing take to come thro'?It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0
-
Applied online on the 1st week of November but Royal Mail I presume lost the forms they sent me for signing got those again finally at the end of Nov. I’m now waiting for my card which is due at some point next week.
The woman was also surprised she'd never seen it that high and had to call another department to confirm.
Hope that helps.0 -
Call that a massive limit??
I received my CapOne card today - £21,000 ;D
*Edit* Mr B, in that other thread there was a website reference, but IIRC that link is no longer working and it's paper application forms only now.0 -
hmmm..... 21K Fantastic! ;D
Mr B, I also got it from the other thread. I think there was a link from the moneysupermarket site (or was that it..). Don't know if they are still live though.
bethyblue612 - What are you going to do with your 21K? (couldn't increase the font size)0 -
What am I going to do with it? - Stooze it, of course ;D
I'm still quite new at this stoozing game, started small a while ago with my Egg anniversary transfer, but with the money I've "accidentally" put my Egg card £8k into credit (which is going to Cahoot via current a/c as we speak), £6k to pay off a spending spree & family holiday (but I have savings to cover it anyway) and £7k to pay off a 0% balance on a Morgan Stanley card which finishes soon.
As far as I can tell, balance transfers are free throughout the 18 months, so although the minimum payments are quite high at 3%, I'll be aiming to BT then back almost as fast as I pay them, if I can manage it.
(And there's a font size icon that you click on to make things big or small - showing off now )0 -

After a series of good credit limits on other cards Capital One decided to not only reduce my interest free period from 18 months to 6 but to also only give me a £1k credit limit!
I canceled it immediately and took it as a sign I have been overdoing the applications. Time to lie low for a bit.0 -
So can someone please tell me then if I can BT from my CapOne card to my Egg card then my bank for free? Can I also do this with my MBNA Card for free? Also if my limits 3K say on the egg card can I transfer over 6K - what happens?
Aaaargh. I think I've answered these questions twice a day for the last fortnight. YES is the answer to all your questions, except the MBNA cards which will probably charge you 2% unless you do it when you first take out the card (and somethimes even then).0 -
Technically, the CapOne T&C's say "Balance transfer means that you can move a balance (what you owe) from another card onto your CapOne card", so that you strictly ought to transfer £3k from Egg to bank first and then £3k from C1 to Egg, but if you do it in that order you will incur interest on your Egg card.
You could "accidentally" transfer the £6k to Egg first and then to your bank, I did it with £8k and nobody questioned it (YET!).
With MBNA, you would probably need to phone them, others on here have said that they charge a fee for most BT's that aren't done at the time of applying for the card.
*Edit* "Others on here have said" - that must be Reaper then0 -
well done all.....
STILL await any news of where can get an application
please please.....nope....pretty please
cheers
