First Direct say £150 not eligible through MSE link
A tad annoyed to discover that apparently me applying to switch banks to First Direct for £150 as advertised isn't "applicable" through MSE, only Moneysupermarket apparently and there is "nothing they can do". Not the best first step in switching accounts for first time in over 20 years! Anyone else experienced this?..!

Refund to Cancelled Card
Hello everyone. I've been refunded for an item but the card I used to pay has since been cancelled and I have a new one. However, they've sent the refund to the cancelled card. Will I still receive it as it's just the card that has been cancelled and I still have the same bank account? I was told that I should still…

UK citizen becoming a UK resident again
Dear Moneysavers! I have been living outside of the UK for 7 years. It is likely that I will return to the UK next year on a kind of scholarship to study. I will need a part time job. I have no property in the UK, and no remaining bank accounts. The part time job and scholarship will clearly require a bank account to…

Bank accepted post-dated cheque
My son's birthday is the 25th of the month, co-incidentally that's that day I get paid. He is at Uni so I sent his birthday card, with a cheque in. Dated the 25th. Looking at my statement that cheque left my account on the 23rd! As it happens I didn't go overdrawn but I'm less than impressed that they processed the cheque…

Paypal payment not showing in bank a/c
I made an online purchase on Friday but my account with the shop is showing my purchase as still awaiting payment. I've set up my PP a/c so that payments are made directly from my current bank a/c (which has adequate funds to cover the amount), but it's still not showing as coming out of my bank a/c although it is listed…

Choosing a new bank for someone who gets paid with no tax?
Hi all, This forum is amazing. There are so many helpful people. I'm a longtime reader but first time poster. I started the process of opening HSBC account online at end of August with intention of taking up switch offer. Finally after 8 weeks the account is open, one of the slowest ever account openings. Bank Account Search
I wish to open an account through which to make investments with some savings. The account would not be used other than to hold moneys temporarily between investments and perhaps to receive dividends or interest payments from such investments. It must offer money transfer facilities (Debit Card, BACS, D/D) and not require…
