YBS Money Manager

Does anyone use YBS Money Manager to get a consolidated view of all their accounts?

I remember I used to use the Egg one years ago and it worked quite well.

Or any other similar tools that can people can recommend?

Not sure if these tools are frowned upon by the other banks though.

Thanks

I use it all the time - every morning I look at the list of accounts that I have and can see any movement at a glance.

There are only a couple of accounts that I am unable to show on there, Marks and Spencer's, and Nationwide.

I have stopped using YBS MM years ago as I found it an incredibly painful experience - it's slow, it doesn't support all the banks and investment houses I need, and (at the time at least) there were constant errors and the setup was complex.

Instead I have been a very happy user of the native software on which YBS MM is based - accountunity.

The only 'negative' about accountunity is that is presently only works in IE. I understand they are working on a big improvement, which will include support for all browsers as well as a mobile app.

There is certainly support for Nationwide and M&S in accountunity. The only companies not currently supported are some of the smaller building societies - but if you really want them, you can pester the accountunity support folk and they will generally add anything for you.

One marvellous feature of accountunity is that you can store your profile on a USB stick, which makes moving it to a different PC child's play. With YBS MM, you need to set everything up from scratch.

The problems with M & S and Nationwide is that they both need the use of a generated number, M & S with their pass card and Nationwide with a card reader.

You do NOT need the card reader to logon to Nationwide; you only need it to set up or amend a new payee, or to make a payment to a payee that you haven't used for a long time.

Here's a very comprehensive list of all the banks supported by Accountunity:

Oh yes, remember that now. However I can only remember one of my memorable details and there do seem to be a lot of details required to set this up under YBS money manager.

I don't use Nationwide much so I don't think I will try and reset the details - I'll just keep using the card reader

You can log into Nationwide without a 'generated number'.

The M&S (and HSBC) account balances get displayed despite the full login requiring a securekey. For most of the month, it's good enough to for me to just see the balances.

    I use accountunity for
    AA Savings
    Barclaycard
    Barclays Bank
    EDF Energy
    eBay
    Facebook
    FD
    FT
    Halifax Bank
    Halifax Sharedealing
    HL
    HSBC
    John Lewis Partnership card
    Lloyds
    Metro Bank
    M&S
    Nationwide
    Natwest
    Newcastle BS
    NS&I
    O2
    PO
    Santander
    TD Direct
    Tesco Banks
    Tesco Clubcard
    TSB
    Ulster
    YB
    YBS

I could even add my William Hills account but sadly they set my max bet to £0 about 8 years ago.

Are there any issues with using Accountunity in respect of breaching any banks T&Cs to do with access? Been looking for something like this to save having to log on to 40 odd accounts to check balances but have been put off as seem to have a recollection that using the old Egg money manager contravened the individual banks T&Cs and hence meant you lost any fraud protection. (Probably talking out the back of my head but thought I'd check anyway). Thanks

I don't think so, and I have never heard that EMM, or the First Direct version of accountunity, contravene anyone's T&Cs. Some of the T&Cs even explicitly state now that the use of account aggregators is specifically permitted.

    E.g. from Lloyds T&Cs:
4.8 We will not treat you as breaking your security obligations just because you use an aggregation service we do not provide. A typical aggregation service allows you to view information about your accounts with different banks on a single website.

In any case, a bank wouldn't know whether it is you or a piece of software that is operating your browser. Unless you tell them, that is - but why would you?
