Paypal payment not showing in bank a/c

I made an online purchase on Friday but my account with the shop is showing my purchase as still awaiting payment.

I've set up my PP a/c so that payments are made directly from my current bank a/c (which has adequate funds to cover the amount), but it's still not showing as coming out of my bank a/c although it is listed as a payment in PP.

Usually PP amounts seem to be processed more or less immediately, but not this one.

Should I be concerned? PP thinks I've made the payment but it's not left my bank and it's not reached the retailer.

What time Friday did you make the transaction.

Are you paying Paypal by direct debit? These use the BACS timescales.

Assuming Paypal submitted the Direct Debit request on Friday and it is an existing Direct Debit, the earliest it will show on your bank account is Tuesday (early hours of the morning). It could be later than this depending on when exactly Paypal submit their request. If it is a Direct Debit, it will only appear as part of an overnight batch process, it won't suddenly hit your account during the daytime.

If you're paying them by debit card it still takes a few days for the transaction to hit your account, although typically your available balance would reduce straight away.

I get many PP purchases shown as 'Pay After Delivery' payments, and the DD isn't taken till a week or so after I've received the goods. Whether that's a specific eBay thing or not I don't know.

Perhaps it's a differenece between using PP on eBay and with other retailers then, because if I've bought an item on eBay it shows immediately that the item has been paid for, and with a bit of luck I receive the item within a couple of days.

In this case however, the order on the retailer's website is showing as "awaiting fulfilment", which I take to mean waiting to be dispatched because it's not paid yet.

Awaiting fulfilment will mean that they have received payment and the order is waiting for someone to start the process of finding and packaging the item.

At least for the last couple of weeks my PP payments debit my bank acc few days after purchasing items even on eBay. As for other changes, PP started delaying withdrawals and they call it 'review'. I was quite worried the first time the money didn't arrive to my bank acc but it seems to be the standard procedure now (even though my PP acc is already few years old).
