Halifax - BoS current accounts
I do have 3 Halifax reward accounts (opened years back when it was still possible) but just wonder if [technically] I am still allowed to get the 3 BoS accounts as per 5% savings loophole mentioned by Martin. Many thanks in advance for comment,

French bank accounts
I now live in France and have my pension paid into a French bank by electronic transfer. They seem to be completely unaware of the new legislation covering these transfers as they take up to 5 days to credit my account. I have complained to the bank who steadfastly ignore me because I am just a customer.I have written to…

Want to switch - but which?
Hello All, I'm looking to switch bank accounts. I have been with HSBC since I opened a student account before going to uni 20 years ago and haven't moved since. I don't have any particular problem with them but the basic account gives me no interest and although I do have an available £1000 overdraft, it's now at 19%…

Harlands Direct Debit Charge
Hello everyone, I'm having a little problem with Harlands and I've found a few cases on forums where it's got out of hand and people have been harassed. To start with here are the facts and figures of my predicament: My wife and I have had our worst month financially this month. Also, I recently moved jobs which moved my…

silly question but a question nonetheless: bank details to employers
I have a joint account with my partner. I need to give this account details to my new employer. Do I give them the sort code, account number and my name only (as that's what I have on my debit card). Or do I need to give them the sort code, account number and Mr. XXX and Ms. XXX as the account name? As my salary is being…

TSB 555 Deal
Hi everybody, I created a new TSB account at the end of September to take advantage of the 5% interest and refund on contactless. However now there is the 555 deal. I still have my old bank account at RBS, so if I do the switch now, will I be eligible for the £125? Also, what is the best way to set up direct debits that…

Who owns an "RE" bank account
When my sons were born, my mum, set up a "pocket money" bank account for each of them (with Nationwide). her stated intention at the time was to transfer control of the accounts when the boys reached 16 (school leaving age at the time!) After she died the accounts were taken over by my dad. Last time I saw the statements…

I got ripped off by my bank.
Few weeks ago, on a Saturday, I wanted to convert 10k euro cash in my bank. The cashier tried to call some kind of service they call when a large amount is to be converted, perhaps to offer a better rate than the displayed one? Anyway, she failed, because it was closed on Saturday and she exchanged my money with the…

Tried to switch to Clydesdale but they mucked up the process and complaint ignored
I’ve been fuming about this for a while but not quite sure what to do next as it’s hard to clarify what actually happened. I tried to take advantage of the Clydesdale switching bonus in August and it all seemed to go well I was told my new account would be set up and I received the forms to switch my old account.…

Debit card fraud
An order for a phone has been made through my amazon account via amazon.fr and then the person has emailed the seller in Milan to ask them to post it to an address in Belfast. I caught it all too late and am now trying to speak to amazon in France to get a refund. They are misunderstanding everything I say! Meanwhile I…

First Direct customer service
Is it just me or is it getting worse? I suspect they've made some personnel cut backs recently. Whenever I used to call, it always got picked up almost immediately. Nowadays, there is a much longer wait, and tonight I wanted to pay off a personal loan. After 15 minutes on hold, I was encouraged to hang up by the nice lady…

Warning over TSB switch
Tried setting up online TSB account and passed the credit check and then found out there is a system glitch that will not allow you to get past stage 4 where you enter your local branch details. Seems to be a known problem (going back to June 2015 which is still not resolved). Rang TSB and they advised to try in 24 hours…

This thread originally entitled 'Tesco Saver DD waiting time now nearly a fortnight' I got a Tesco Internet Saver account set up late last night (Thursday 29th) hoping to get a direct debit paid to it on 2nd November. Contrary to what has been reported on this board, the first available DD date is 11th November. This was…

First Direct switching
Hi, Apologies if this has already been asked, but I couldn't see it mentioned anywhere else. My wife and I both have a current account each and a joint account, all with the same bank. If I were to switch all of our accounts to First Direct would we get £150 for each account, considering we both get paid more than enough…

Payment protection scams

Switching Incentives and Credit score
Apologies if question previously asked. I have been with Smile for over 10 year and I am happy enough with the service. On the other hand £150 free sounds nice, but could this be bad for credit rating? If I switch I would then have to tell a lender I have only been with my current bank for six months?
