Abbey Student Account: Overlimit Charges
My girlfriend has just discovered today that she has gone £6 over her limit on her student account (women and shopping - need I say more? :o ). She called them and told her that they couldn't tell her what the fee was because it hadn't been "processed", but if the £6 was put in before Monday (is that even possible?) it…

Overdrafts and credit ratings
Hi everyone, I currently bank with Barclays and have an overdraft that's over 5 times the amount I'm ever overdrawn by. I know that if I had a lower overdraft I'd be able to get a bigger loan from Barclays (but that's not something I want, I would rather keep the big overdraft for emergency payments). I am wondering what…

Unbelievable - Pre approved overdraft
I went to see what my preassessed overdraft limit was with halifax today and it's 9500!!!! What?!?! Credit crunch, what credit crunch? I only have 2500 paid into this account every quarter. What is up with them? I could get myself into a lot of trouble with that.

Interesting LTSB development
I opened a LTSB current account about 3 months ago. I was given a £250 "provisional" overdraft limit and a Visa Debit card without cheque guarantee. It was the Platinum account. I was paying my salary of approx £75k into this account and also had about £4k in savings in a linked account. I got peed off with them because…

Current Accounts, Overdrafts and Debt!
If a punter lives above his or her means and is permanently up to their OD limit, who's fault is it when the bank decides to cancel the OD limit and demand the money back? Is the bank at fault for not indulging the punter's spendaholic lifestyle? If not, why are people often whining about the bank recalling their OD?

Odd issue with Halifax Easycash
Last week or so I applied for one of these accounts online. Today the card dropped through, I activated it and am just waiting for the PIN. First odd thing is that they never asked me to present any ID at a branch - I assume this is because I already had an account with them and have been a Bank of Scotland customer for…

Halifax Reward
Anyone seen this new approach to overdraft charges from Halifax? - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7780551.stm I'm curious to what people think of it.. It seems it'll depend on how you bank, for those always in credit, they get £5 a month which is more then they'd get in interest, and the occasional use of overdraft or…

How can fraudsters use my cancelled card?
I found an unknown transaction on my statement in early November - called the bank cancelled the card and got a replacement. Got the money back no problem. A month later, I find 5 transactions, (4 for NAT EXPRESS-ELECT COMM, and 1 for Shadestation) on my account over the space of 4 days. I was told by LloydsTSB Fraud…

Lloyds TSB Internal Scoring
I have an account with Lloyds, opened for about 3 months maybe and wanted to convert it into a student account as I'm going back to Uni. When I did the application online, it actually opened me another current account. So when I called up I was advised that I had to go into a branch and get them to convert it. The lady got…

I set up a standing order on my A&L online account in Sept 08 for my Virgin Credit Card. I selected 23 Sept 08 as the first payment date and monthly payments thereafter. The first…

Citibank fee/£2000 min balance for US dollar accounts
Citibank CS told me that there's no longer a fee or min balance requirement (was £2000) for having US dollar current or savings accounts. Been like that for last few months apparently. Useful for those needing to deposit/write US dollar cheques or just have a punt on the market.

More money in my account than there should be but nothing paid in?
To cut a long story short, the rent for my flat which I share with 2 others, comes out of my account each month. I only enough money in my account to cover my own share - £600, which was my overdraft funds (My balance was about -£1300 with about £700 available - my overdraft limit is £2000).
