More money in my account than there should be but nothing paid in?

To cut a long story short, the rent for my flat which I share with 2 others, comes out of my account each month. I only enough money in my account to cover my own share - £600, which was my overdraft funds (My balance was about -£1300 with about £700 available - my overdraft limit is £2000). My flat mates both paid in there share - £600 going directly into my account and the other £600 coming in 3 days later... which was after the rent came out. So not having enough to pay the full amount of rent I went over my overdraft limit, and obviously got fined. However the following morning, my flat mates money had come into my account (£600) but my new balance was +£262 with about £2200 available funds.
So from being completely in my overdraft, going over the limit big time, then having £600 paid in which should have only just brought me out of being over my overdraft limit, I am now in the pluses and (+£262 balance) and have my complete overdraft available) with nothing on my online statement showing that more money is paid in.
Obviously Im not complaining, but I don't know where I stand with having this money in my account and if and when it can be removed?
Hopefully this makes sense.

Have you checked that your rent actually went out, as I would imagine that the bank would not pay the standing order/direct debit unless the funds were there, so this may be why you've got more money that you'd expectAndy Corbett0

If it's a mistake it can be removed
You need to look at the actual transactions as well as the available funds figure0 -
Is the account with A&L? they seem to have very odd ways of calculating available balance, it never seems to bear any resemblance to reality.
If you know you shouldn't have any money in the account then just make sure you don't spend it, cos wherever it has come from, they will probably take it back soon!Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Sorry, I immediately thought that because I'd been fined for going over my overdraft limit the payment for my rent had been made. But on relooking at my statement the actual payment hasn't gone out - hence more money in my account than there should be!
Thanks for your help! I just saw more money in my account than there should be and thought "Yes!"0 -

No problem - Suggest you get your rent paid asap!Andy Corbett0
