A + L Switching service
I recently opened a Premier Direct Account and authorised the switching service, but A+L have written to me saying they can't switch the direct debits from my old (Nationwide) account as it is a joint account and this new account is in my name only. I am closing the joint account as I am divorcing, with full permission…

Liability Shift to The Consumer for Card Fraud
Two quite amazing stories (cross posted) but they were Debit Cards that were used. Banks are routinely refusing to compensate victims of fraud because they insist the customer's own card must have been used and the customer must, therefore, have been at fault. Without actually saying so, they are alleging that many victims…

Lloyds treatment of cheques
Does anyone with a Lloyds current account plus (4.25%) use theirs to pay in cheques drawn against another current account? At the moment LTSB gives interest from the date of receipt - and personal cheques take two days (that's working days) to be presented at the other end. So you could pay in £999 on Friday at Lloyds (the…

Is it worth claiming back £120?
The Nationwide charged my 4x£30 for 4 cheques that bounced. Although it was my fault I think these charges are OTT. These were my first charges in 12 years banking with them yet they refused to refund even some of these charges. Is it worth taking action through the small claims courts or is it not worth the hassle?
