access money from a closed account

hi there hope somebody can help me.
a&l closed an account of mine because i didnt use it for 12 months.
however there was cash in this account.
i have heard that this cash is what is called floating.
does anybody know if i can and how to access this money.
all help much appreciated.

havent spoken to them yet but thought it might be slightly more tecnical than that.
will try that and see what happens.

Hi, you do still have the right to you money and most banks keep it in "unclaimed funds account" for approx 4-6 years. If you request a closing bank statement, ie last issued statement it will show exactly how much was moved, and to which account.0

They would not close an account just because it had not been used for 12 months.
I suspect we have not had the whole story here.
Could it not be closed at all merely dormant?
If so A&L will need to re confirm your ID and address (possibly in person) before they will re-activate the account.0
