Child benefit - changing claimant
I just rang the child benefit helpline to discuss changing the child benefit from my name to my husband's, so that he would get his NI contributions for pension purposes as a SAHD. The woman on the phone said I had to call the NI contributions helpline first as you don't always have to change claimants. The helpline isn't…

Housing benefit and non dependant contribution
Hi If there's a non dependant living with you who is retired and is on pension credit, I understand there's no deductions to your housing benefit claim...does that mean that they can contribute / or give you money without it affecting your housing benefit allowance? Council Tax Benefit Underpayment
Hi I've just received a letter, saying they underpaid my council tax benefit, by £178, so in other words I paid £178 too much last year. No tax credits for years due to wrong info given on renewal phone call
Can't find anyone with a similar problem on here. In 2008 I phoned to renew my tax credits and when I told them I earned 14,000 in the previous year I was told I was no longer entitled to tax credits and therefore didn't bother to claim for the next six years. After talking to a few people recently I have learned this…

Hours re tax credits
Why do you get asked how many hours you work per week? I am contracted to work 21 hours a week, but work overtime, not a lot, but enough to put me over the next threshold that they mention in the tax credits, i.e. 24 hours a week. Should I let them know? Just there is no definitive hours I work besides the 21 hours. But I…
