Housing benefit and non dependant contribution

Hi
If there's a non dependant living with you who is retired and is on pension credit, I understand there's no deductions to your housing benefit claim...does that mean that they can contribute / or give you money without it affecting your housing benefit allowance?
The person receiving the housing benefit has lost his job and he's wondering, if his non dependant was to contribute would this affect his current allowance seeing that there's no deductions due to non dependant being a pensioner, or will this be seen as income thus reducing his housing benefit?
Thanks

Depends if the pensioner was a lodger or sub tenant - if not any money given is disregarded. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -

its a relative who needs looking after as she's elderly and cant live on her own. so she's not a tenant but living with the family.
if she does give money does it have to be declared? The councils already been informed that she's a pensioner who gets pension credit and they have disregarded her pension on the claim due to her getting pension credit.
im assuming she can give money to the claimant as and when she wants as this money has already been disregarded?
