Just wondering how different rent is around the country (obviously massive in London!)

I have a one bed property, no garden, allocated parking for £650
Moving soon to another one bed with parking and a garden, again £650

Both on the South coast :)

I don't rent, I own (thank goodness), but rents up here in Aberdeen for a reasonable enough place in a decent area are as follows:

    1 bed flat £600 pm

    2 bed flat £850 pm

    3 bed flat/terrace £1000 - £1250 pm

    4/5 bed houses £1300 to £2500 pm

You can obviously pay more for nicer places, or less for a dump/bad area, but that's for what most people would consider decent.

If you're willing to accept a 45-60 minute commute, rents drop by up to 50%. But then there's the cost of commuting...

1 bed no garden , some with shared drying space, between £345 -£360
    2 bed, £415- £460
    3 bed house £550 - £650 plus ( my sis got new 3 bed 3 story town house for this 650 )
  • I've rented 3 places:

2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in a town centre location in Stafford (20 miles from Birmingham), apartment was around 500 square feet and the rent was £550/month.

2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in Hove, 1 mile from the centre of Brighton, exceptional building and the rent is £1500/month -- I'm currently renting this until my tenancy ends in June.

5 bedroom 4 bathroom house about 1 mile from the town centre, over 2000 square feet also in Stafford for £950 per month -- just started the tenancy in this house.

    Location seems to be everything.

It's as nice as can be expected for the rent I pay. Local HA stock, furthest fringes of Glasgow to the north, a suburb with all the essentials (local shopping centre, cinema, doctors/dentists etc.

Big enough for me, two cats and a goldfish but not big enough to accommodate my boyfriend too. I'm hoping to get out of here as soon as I can once I'm debt free (end of April) and start afresh in a 3 bed flat in the city.

I live in central London. Here a studio is £750 to £1,100 a month, a 1 bed (no garden, no parking) is about £1,200 to £1,600 a month, a 2 bed (no garden, no parking) is about £1,500 to £2,000 a month and a 3 bed (no garden, no parking) is about £2,750 a month or more.

For a house, you can pay £8k a month upwards.

Yep, when I met my OH he was renting a box room in a shared house and I remember everyone saying how lucky he was as it was £450 per month, not including council tax, bills, tv license etc.

Our last rented place was one bedroom, around £1,100 a month. and it was the cheapest we could find after looking for months. We redecorated it too as it was so shabby.

I live in a small NW town near Preston, and we pay £595 a month.

That's for a 2.5-bed house (two double bedrooms, one that's too small for a bed and is used as an office), in the most sought-after, luxurious neighbourhood, with a large enclosed garden, private garage and driveway for up to three cars.
