There's also a place down Scarborough St in Hull that only does MOTs and not repairs.

John A. Fountain in Sc.unthorpe (Brigg Road) do them too.

I've booked it for next week, it's £49, they do a free restest within 7 days if necessary and if they can do any of the minor stuff such as lights, they do it for free.

As a lady who has used other garages that seems to give me a catalogue of jobs that need doing to my car, I feel that a MOT only garage, will actually give me an honest outcome. (Actually I did need a bulb for one of my lights, and had the excellent customer care of them doing it out of the goodness of their heart at no extra cost!)

Highly recommend this garage to everyone

After reading this site &seeing how good council run centres are, I trawled through MSE to find a local one in Lincoln but couldn't fine one. Eventually found one in neighbouring Newark. Used them today for my M.O.T today.

The staff were very friendly &cheery and the location is smart with plenty of parking.
My car passed, got an advisory that was minor but all fine &efficient. I had a headlight out of alignment, and the M.O.T tester fixed it for me for free!

The M.O.T cost me £45, some people may think it's on the high side with all the offers about but this is a small cost to pay for the quality and service! I'm female so to find a garage where I don't feel intimidated is hard but felt welcome here.

Details are:
Newark & Sherwood District Council run MOT Centre
on Brunel Drive, Newark. Tel No. 01636 655566.

I am based in Lincoln and can highly recommend www.weonlymot.co.uk - they have branches in:
  • Lincoln
  • Grimsby
  • Blidworth
  • Boughton/Ollerton
  • Newark
  • Mansfield
  • Grantham
  • Nottingham/Carlton
I visited the Lincoln branch last week, they only conduct MOT tests and do not undertake service/repairs. For cars under 10 years old there is no charge for a fail, and a £45 charge for a pass. For cars over 10 years old you pay £45 if you pass, or £25 if you fail, followed by a further £20 if you pass on a re-test.

I was really impressed by the online booking system and fast, professional service.
