Hi
I'd love to know your feedback on the process of applying for ICICI and have you got your accounts up and running.
This poll was first conducted a couple of months ago (see here), and I want to see whether the service and general process has improved now that they have had a bit of time.
In the original vote, the general feedback was that the process was either taking a long time (51%) or it had been a complete nightmare (24%), with only 10% of people saying that the application had been smooth and problem free.
If you have attempted to set one of these up since, please vote in the poll, and let me know how it went.

I sent up my account late August and has taken about 3 weeks. Now it is fully operational. No complaints though it was a bit slow to open the account. Just transfered 6k so fingers crossed everything goes ok.
I call it my "curry money account" as the bank is indian based and thier rates are hot:money: IT Geek & Martin Wannabee :money:0 -
Well someone up there is watching out for me, as so far so good. Transfers take the stated time, actually arrive in ICICI a day before they leave my Barclays linked account, so a days "free interest", they even reply to my emails!0

My wife and I have each opened personal HiSAVE accounts. In doing this, things went reasonably well. Next, we tried to open a Joint HiSAVE account. Here things went badly, communications have been very poor, initial 'account opening' cheques have gone to the wrong account and/or gone missing.
My own experiences in tring to sort things out with several of the Customer Support Staff in Mombai and in the UK too, have led me to conclude how some are both excellent at their job and knowledgable. Just like car mechanics and heart surgeons too, some are not!
The main difficulty has been that their CS staff have no real authority and also no direct responsibilities within the brief of their job towards having the necessary power or authority to help sort out the bank's HiSAVE UK clients' difficulties.
Based on what they them selves as individuals understand as being the actuality of a client query or problem, all they can do is to try to formulate a message on paper and send it off to London later that day. They apparently do this in 'end of day batches' and then the London staff have to do their best with what is somewhat limited information.
It does not take much imagination to see how complicated some of the problems can be and how poor and unthorough the accompanying messages to London, which outline the complexities of some of these problems, actually are.
I think the banks' systems are most definitely under-resourced!
The staff calibre is not quite as high either, when compared to some of their UK competitors. Thus ICICI UK cannot and do not give the sort of high quality banking service and levels of good communication that we in the UK are used to.
The high interest rate offered has absolutely swamped them with client problems and so.....
If all goes well and you don't happen to get a hiccup - then great.
If there are problems and mistakes - then customer aggravation, annoyance and stress will be very high as things will not be thoroughly dealt with and sorted out.
The situation is steadily improving.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.0 -
Where's the option for Took a long time, but open and still having hassles? (Voted Took a long time, but is now set up fine. since that was the nearest.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -

Me too I'm afraid. Opening took ages, but was kind of expecting that, fair enough. Since it's been open though, it's been a nightmare!
Tried to transfer money in.
Money was (eventually) debited from my account
BUT instead of the reference on my bank statement being my name (as is usual) it was SOMEONE ELSE'S
Money has, three weeks later, still not appeared in my HiSave account
Lots of emails and phonecalls later, still no joy.
Someone else is earning interest on my money!
Urgh!

Nightmare that goes on and on. Tried complaining to CEO-letter from minion that all was sorted then they go and take money (1 penny)out of my account to sort out a fault in their direct debit system and to activate a new DD without telling me. Very annoyed!
Emails/account mails go unanswered or it takes weeks to get some very strange replies written in a language tantalisingly close to english.
Just can't bring myself to trust them.

Would like another option to choose from:
Absolute nightmare - lots of hassle, Open now but not running smoothly.
EDIT: Just saw post 5. Beat me to it.0 -
Just received an email from ICICI.With effect from November 1, 2005, ICICI Bank UK Ltd. will revise the HiSAVE savings interest rate to 5.15% AER (5.03% Gross). All our new and existing account holders will enjoy this revised rate. This new rate continues to be one of the most competitive for an online savings product in the United Kingdom.Really not sure about the use of “enjoy”.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0
