I know this has ben mentioned somewhere before but
http://www.phoneboxdirect.co.uk/

seem to have some good cashback deals - particularly the Sony k300i -free 12mths etc.

Has anyone ever bought a phone off them and do they honour the cashback?

I am thinking of taking the plunge and if others are interested use this thread to discuss the cashback procedure and other issues to we don't get stung.

I cannot find an answer to this elsewhere.

Various 12 months free line rental/free phone etc on 12 months contract offers available from www.phoneboxdirect.com on o2, Orange, T Mobile. According to their information pages, they are trading partners of Caudwell Communications (who also own Phones4U) - looking into this more, the site is run by Mobile Media Systems who appear to be a white label site that use 4uLtd/Dextra (part of Caudwell) as their supplier. Dextra also run www.Jessopsmobiles.com, www.bootsphones.com, www.woolworthsphones.com - these sites also offer good cashback, or Advantage points in the case of Boots, deals but pay up after 7 months according to the t&c. As they are high street brands they may be more reliable).

I see in the Phonebox terms and conditions that for the high value cashbacks you have to claim 5 times in months 4,6,8,10,12 - miss one and you lose any remaining cashbacks as well (which seems harsh!). But, if you stick to the rules, £360 cashback is worth having (12 months free on 12 month contract)... so long as you get it!

Does anyone have any experience of cashbacks with Phonebox please?

Would Carphonewarehouse, OSPS, E2save (I know all three are CPW but seem to have different admin), or Dial-a-phone, who offer price matches, price match deals as good as this (12 month free line rental by cashback)? Answer - probably not as I now see that they may be a white label site rather than direct dealer.

    Many thanks

I don't know but would be interested to see comments, I am currently considering a panasonic x70 with them, my current contract is due up on 13th of the month, I had a sony from osps so did the wife we both got all our cashback with them no problem but they don't seem to be running a similar offer in fact phonebox was the only 12mth free contract I could find with a bluetooth set.
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.
  • I'm also considering a 12 month o2 contract with them. So far not impressed as sent them an e-mail in relation to certain points no reply after 4 days.
Asked mobileshop the same question replied in a day.i will probably now go with mobileshop again, not the choice of phones but seem at this stage more reliable.
  • Thanks for this, I also have a contract ending with 3 on 16th (I think) and I've left it right to the last minute to look for another phone deal. This looks quite good, I like the look of the Panasonic X70 - does anyone know if this phone is any good? I was hoping to get a better deal with more free minutes but haven't been able to find anything else ( I currently have 500 free mins and 100 free texts per month for £3.99 per month).

Onestopphoneshop also have the Sony Ericcson K300i on a 12 months free line rental offer. It is the OVP T Mobile 100 mins contract, although some of the others are 11 months and 10 months free line rental.

I am not sure if they have any in stock at the moment or not as I ordered mine in October and it was out of stock at the time but it eventually arrived at the end of November.

If you have been happy using onestopphoneshop before then it may be worth finding out if they have them in stock if anybody is a bit wary of using phonebox.com.

I've not seen much comment about phonebox, but that does not mean that they are to be avoided. People should note and follow their cashback terms and conditions to the letter, just as with any other supplier.

OneStopPhoneShop, on the other hand, is definitely to be avoided, as there is a great deal of criticism of the way this supplier treats its customers, and how customers are having to resort to court action to try and get their cashback. People thought that OSPS would be better after Carphone Warehouse took it over, but it appears to have got a lot worse.

See the postings on this forum, and other places such as rPoints, one current thread being GRRRR OSPS never to be used again.

I note on the rpoints site there is the start of discussion on Phonebox - no experience from anyone yet but may be worth checking:

    http://www.rpoints.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1014828

Also note that I have changed the opening message to clarify that they are not part of Caudwell but distributors (ie Caudwell/Dextra just distribute the phones but the contract for cashback will be with Mobile Media Systems), which may not fill me with as much confidence given the amount of the cashback that may be involved in their deals.

  • Well I ordered the Panasonic x70 in the end. First I made a mistake and forgot to go through quidco to get my £15 (it was late and I had a toddler on my lap) so I emailed them to ask to cancel the order - they did no probs, so I ordered again the next morning. I recieved the phone within 24 hrs and it seems OK. The only thing that annoys me is that there are no details sent about claiming the cashback. Last year I had a cashback deal with e2save and they send you a note detailing everything. I guess I'll have to go back on the website and have a look.
