skin care and cosmetics. lots of American brands are cheaper (up to 40% less than the UK high street) and some good ones you'll want to check out are BeneFit, Bliss, Bobbi Brown, and MAC.

Look on Sephora.com for prices and xe.com to convert prices
Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!

Theres a Sketchers shop on corner of Broadway by Times Square. I have big feet and was easy to get my size in states.

Croc shoes ( my wife knows what these are!), clothes in general ( kids seem to love American Eagle and Old Navy), camera lenses ( I bought a Nikon telephoto lens and paid in dollars what I would have paid in pounds in the UK!), memory cards. Again my wife would agree with Yenners about cosmetics being cheap. Just got my Amex bill covering the holiday period, and bulk exchange rate was about $1.98 per £.

    HI

Ive got a few ideas of what I want to buy in new york (i'm going next wk, my 1st time) but could someone give me the low down on where to buy things? Is it cheaper to go to new jersey? and if so which shops specifically.

I'd like to get clothes (Diesel/Levi jeans etc)
    Cosmetics (Benefit/Mac/Clinique Lancome)
    Laptop/Mac/PS3

    Many Thanks
    x
  • tax wise it is cheaper to shop in new jersey or connecticut .
  • For clothes try Centuary 21, it's a bit of a jumble sale but you might get a bargain.
