so by going over my £145 allowance, i have to pay customs tax on EVERYTHING? that seems a REALLY stupid way around things, i don't even get any of my allowance??0
-
Yep that is what it says
"If you bring in something worth more than the limit of £145, you must pay charges on the full value, not just the value above £145."
Perhaps they shouldn't call it an allowance, because if you go over it, it is no longer considered.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

but it says "something" worth more than £145... my (hypothetical) camera is only worth £140. my jumper is a seperate "thing" worth £20..
anyway.. back to the point.. what to buy in NYC (and i won't be buying any jumpers i can assure you of that!)0 -

Yes you get it at Customer services - you need to prove you are not a US citizen eg passport to get it.:rotfl:0 -

Hi all - hope someone can help.
I've got my Post Office credit card (don't worry - won't be using that in machines!) and have just applied for my Nationwide flexaccount for the debit card. Two main questions:
How prevalent are free cashpoints in New York?
Is there a free machine at Newark airport? I just want to know whether I need to bring some cash as well...
Thanks in advance!C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0 -
i'd always take some cash.. just to be on the safe side.
FREE ATM'S are at the major banks, however, the charges for ATM's are only about 99¢, however, i don't think it charges for international cards (i've never noticed anyway when i've done a quick couple of $$ withdrawl)
however, don't land at JFK, without at least some cash to get into Manhattan, and there are some places that cash is better than cards...0 -
