I booked a trip to NY yesterday for 3 nights in less than two weeks. I have done loads of reading about NY and have heard Woodbury common mentioned alot (except here) but all reviews. just wondering if anyone has been and would they recomend it.
Its about an hours drive from NYC. There is a coach from Port Authority, which is 4 blocks north of where we are staying, its about $35 return.
It would be a whole day away from NYC but is it worth it?0 -

Depends what you want to buy. Have you looked at the store directory to see if there are brands that would interest you?
I went in July and I personally wasn't overly impressed , but i'm not bothered about designer clothing so there wasn't that much there to interest me. My husband likes brands such as Oakley and Billabong and there wasn't much there to interest him either , so the only thing we bought was a Tumi suitcase.
Probably a great place for some people , but not for us.Same old same old since 20080 -
Thanks for the reply and the link, I had checked the directory and the shops there do appeal to me and to my girlfriend. Neither of us are that bothered about particular labels. If it looks good and is of a good quality and of course good value for money
then I would wear it. How good was the savings?
p.s.
Congrats on becoming a grandma, my sister is pregnent with what will be my parents first grandchild (exciting times). Hope to pick up a few things for my soon to be nephew.

I've been to Woodbury Common this year and really enjoyed it.
My girlfriend loved it.She found that the prices were cheaper, for Yankee Candles.VERY CHEAP.L'Occitane shop, cheaper for about 70% of the stocked products. The rest normal price. She picked up a DKNY bag, large size for less than £50.Spent loads in the Nike shop and DKNY clothing.Picked up T-Shirts, vests etc for less than £10 each.Wood reccomend it BIG TIME0 -
If you are flying out of Newark the Jersey Garden Mall was apparently even cheaper (as NJ has lower sales tax than NY) didn't go to Woodbury as couldn't justify a whole day out of NYC but I have American friends who rave about it.
There is a free bus from Newark to the NJ mall although it's $3 to get BACK to the airport.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Any idea of where I can buy a pair of Ugg boots in midtown NY?0

you may be lucky and catch the end of the summer sales clearout at stores like macy's , jc penneys etc ...there were bargains galore when i left a few days ago.
as for woodbury common it is hard to generalise ...it can depend on the time of year etc ....i went to two outlet villages in NY state and the prices weren't that good compared to other times i have been (these 2 villages normally have comparable prices store for store with woodbury common ) ...but who knows in the past week their summer sales may have started.
back to the dept. stores and t-shirts , polo tops , shorts by timberland , CK , ralph lauren , nautica , izod , dkny were available for £5.
it's also worth trying tjmaxx and marshalls who had plenty of designer brands with reductions and then further reductions on top .
any specifics by all means ask0 -
NJ doesn' have sales tax on clothes, so it makes things 8.365% cheaper.. however, if you shop at Macy's you get a 11% discount card as an international visitor, and when i was there, there were lots of 25% discounts on (and then the 11% off).. i picked up a leather handbag, priced at $89.99 for only $53 when i was there (for my mum!!!)
also, all your cosmetics, are cheaper than the UK, (no 11% disc) however, you do get freebies from the companies, which are normally quite generous!

Hi Markymoo,
Glad to see you are back safe and sound. No doubt New York was fab and is the Cosmo still retaining its high standards? Sally0 -
