I had an offer accepted on Friday.
Have arranged to meet my mortgage broker (have one in principle already) on Friday as he's in Scotland until then.
Have called for quotes from solicitors and appointed one. Informed EA of mortgage brokers & Solicitors name and numbers.
What's next? I have no clue about what comes next and what I have to do.
Solicitor said he'll said some paperwork and on arrival, I've to send cheque to cover searches.
Is there anything else I should be doing (except packing
)
Thanks for any advice

Are you trying to do the deal quickly?, if so you'll want to get the searches underway (solictor organises these) and your survey instructed (via your mortgage company). Does your Mort broker have any assistants/collegues who can get your mortgage underway?, your buyer will be much more comfortable you are committed to buy when he's had a call from the surveyor.0

Hi,
Im in the same position..almost to the T! We got our mortgage application done today and the broker is sorting it all out.
I had the letters from my solicitor asking for £250.00 for the searches, although we thought it was best to wait until the survery has been done, incase it brings up any reaaallly bad things(dont think it will) and we need to pull out, that way we wont lose the £250.00 aswell as the survery costs! It depends how quickly you want to move though. Ours is chain free.
We'll have to keep each other updated! Where are you buying?0 -
Yes, we'd like it done quickly as really don't want it falling through - guess we're just a bit nervous as it's our first house.
The house is empty as seller previously rented so it should be able to move quickly. We'd happily complete tomorrow if it was possible! :rotfl:
When was your offered accepted Sarah?Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
The offer was accepted last Wednesday i think...but couldn;t do alot, just get our mortgage application all filled in and sent back to the broker..
This is our first place together too, its a flat. We are in New Malden, Surrey..0 -
Ooh just thought id say aswell, our application has gone in today and we shold hopefully get the survey done this week so things start to happen when the application is in..
If you do have to wait until Friday, maybe start to gather up all the documents you will need in prepartion..has the broker already told you what you'll need?
Just incase, this is what we needed..
Passport or driving license.
3 months wage slips
1 months bank statement
proof of address, utility bill etc
Address history for the last 3 years.
Hope that helps! Which survey are you going for?

Hi
Just wanted to add that we too are purchasing our first house. We are waiting for our employment checks and valuation to take place and then we should (hopefully) get our mortgage offer. I was hoping for Wed, but this doesn't seem likely right now.
Instructed solicitors more than 2 weeks ago but so far haven't had anything house-specific from them, but I don't feel in a position to chase them until that mortgage offer has come through.
As we are chain free too, are you game for some friendly competition ?0 -
lol sure..why not!0

Wow - lots of people in the same boat.
Broker said he needed Driving Licence and passport (passport was posted for renewal yesterday morning before he told me) typical! Apparantly, a bank statement will be fine.
Thanks Sarah, I'll gather the wage slips etc ready for Friday, we're going to get a homebuyers one I think - our broker is going to talk us through the options. As the house is only 6yrs old, most problems can be sorted by the builder as it's within the 10yr guarantee so better to know now than in 5 years

A smallish word of warning...keep on top of your solicitor, estate agent and mortgage broker. Although you are paying them for a service....they tend to let things go their own pace if not prodded in the right direction at least once a week. And it does no harm for you to be involved in the process, afterall...the more you learn now, the better you will be prepared when you buy your next one...and then the chain begins....:rotfl:
Seriously...don't let them slack....have a list from them of what they will be doing for you and check it off when they have them completed...you don't want to get to the last week befor ecompletion and realise that there is still loads to be done.
Good luck guys and remember...it's only a house!!! Don't stress!2024 Challenges- Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)
