I have posted this on the Benefits board, but thought perhaps it would be relevant here too. I am sorry if I have got this wrong.
It seems that British Gas is giving winter fuel rebates for their gas and electricity customers.
You need to register now for winter 2006/7.
As before it seems difficult to get full details, and even a search on British Gas website yields nothing. This should be well publicised
The following was taken from the FHG e-bay forum. Many thanks to jamaicanov6. :T
"British Gas is offering a Winter Rebate scheme to their customers who receive
benefits including Disability Living Allowance, Carers Allowance, Child Tax Credits, Working Tax Credits, Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disability Allowance, Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income Based JSA, Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance, War Disablement Allowance/Pension.
Households buying gas and/or electricity from British Gas, where SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE receives these particular benefits, are eligible for the following rebates:
Gas £60 a year paid in 2 instalments - £30 in the last quarters bill in 2006 and £30 in the first quarters bill in 2007.
Electricity £30 a year paid in 2 instalments - £15 in the last quarters bill in 2006 and £15 in the first quarters bill of 2007.
Families need to phone 0845 601 2006 and have their British Gas and/or British Gas Electricity account number available. Registration is simple and effective for Autumn 2006.
THERE IS A SHORT REGISTRATION PERIOD SO YOU NEED TO REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"
Even if you registered for last winter you will have to register again.
Martin would be able to advise further, but perhaps it would be worthwhile for people in receipt of these benefits and not with British Gas to switch as this may then be the cheaper option for them?

It seems not. If you had the full details of which benefits, name, address, gas and electricity account numbers as appropriate you should be able to do this.0 -
