7 Marketing - Swansea

I have been approached by 7 Marketing offering to claim back my PPI Payments from Capital One. Against my better judgement I paid them 199.00 which I thought was the total fee for them to handle my claim. they have now contacted me advising that I do have a valid claim but are asking for more money to pay 'solicitors' to act on my behalf. These fees range from 200.00 to 600.00 depending on the percentage that will be paid to the solicitors out of my compensation.
This started alarm bells ringing so I contacted the Ministry of Justice to ask them if 7 Marketing is a bone fide company. They responded today advising that because 7 Marketing 'cold called' me any solicitor working on my behalf would be breaking their code of conduct. However when pressed they would not advise me whether or not I should hand over any more cash. This is probably a no brainer but can anyone advise me definitively if 7 Marketing is running a scam or not?

Its not a scam but its effectively a mis-sale. A bit of an irony that many of these claims companies acuse others of mis-sales but thats what they are doing themselves.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I would contact the company and request your money back. Advise them that their approach was in breach of the MOJ regulations, which has been confirmed by your contacting the ministry. I do not think they will have any choice but to refund your money.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -
Hi Shazza,
I too have been approached by them with the same outcome. Tell me, did you receive a copy of the discrepancies, as we didn't and have asked them to send me a copy - which they've said they would. I've told them I'd decide once all agreements have been checked - we had quite a few.... (say no more!). Apparently, these solicitor charges are based on per investigation tooo - so becareful. We've decided to wait until they've come back on all before making a decision - however, I am pursuing the larger ones myself!!!
Also, there's nothing to say that they will add more charges for additional things i.e solicitor letters, phone calls etc - so what appears to be a good deal may not be necessarily - I'll advise how we get on.... x0 -
 Me too I have been dealing with 7 Marketing (based in Swansea). The problems with this company:
- I can't find their official website
- the initial payment altough acceptable (£199.00) does correspond to a defined service i.e. no written terms and conditions.
And when they contact you again saying you need to pay for the solicitor, again, no terms and conditions. I am going to have a word next week and ask them to supply the terms and conditions for each service a client pay for. If I don't get satisfication I will escalate to the MOJ.

The best way to make "7 Marketing LTD", "sevenclaims" or even "Recover Debt Solutions LTD" behave is to let them know that we are watching them and we will ensure that if they break [or continue to break] regulations we will seek to have their authorisation removed.

Hi Guys,
I have been dealing with 7 Marketing since November last year when they cold called me and I agreed to let them deal with my case on a "no win no fee" basis - but I did have to pay £99 up front for "admin costs".
They have been a shower of idiots from start to finish.
Their customer services team are inept, sarcatic, rude and clearly have no idea of what PPI reclaims are all about - they just have £ in the their eyes!!
7 months later I have been contacted this week by the solicitor that was dealing on behalf of 7Marketing to say that it cannot be handled on a no win no fee because it must go to court and they want to charge me £160 per hour!! Eh no!! Then they call me back and say that they can GUARANTEE that they can reclaim - with a different solicitor this time - over £18k but I need to give them £600 up front for a "solicitors report".
I do not trust them anymore and believe that they have no idea what they are doing M feeling is that they are just looking to make a fast buck out of vulnerable people who are trying very hard to get their hard earned money back.
I have tried calling them today to return all my paperwork and refund the £99 - but guess what - they have no employed an answering machine to "screen" their calls.
They are disgrace and I personally WOULD NOT recommend them.0 -
I too joined up with 7 marketing after a "cold call". (And I think the previous posts relating to "cold calls" whether personal or not are rather fatuous. Anyone can say "no" and put the phone down.)
However, that aside, my dealings with 7 Marketing so far have not been particularly brilliant. Having paid them the initial fee of £199 I sent them details of 3 credit cards and 2 loans on which I paid PPI in the past.
I recently received a letter saying they had "completed their assessment" on one loan and found that the claim was worth around £4600. This was based on the PPI paid from inception of the loan to date at £3263 which they would "look to reclaim for you" plus a reduction in payments by the PPI amount for the remaining term of the loan.
I actually cancelled the PPI on that loan in 2006 and only paid it for two years - the total paid being around £1000 so even with the 8% this is hardly a huge amount.
I am rather suprised that after more than a month 7 Marketing could not have come up with more accurate figures.
I received today the expected telephone call asking for £600 advance solicitors fee. Having read (and many thanks everyone) the posts on this site I told them to go away and check their figures as they had obviously not done their homework.
Without this site and a little financial instinct I could easily have taken 7 Marketing at their word and paid over £600 in order to reclaim £4600 only to find this was a totally erroneous figure based on incorrect assumptions and poor research.
So thanks again for the advice herein and I will keep you "posted" on the next move 7 Marketing make0
