I sold two old phones to Fonebank a couple of weeks ago and it all went very smoothly. The website quoted £6 each for my two Samsung Z140v phones. I sent them off to the freepost address and received a cheque for the full amount (£12) in just over a week. I was particularly impressed because neither of the phones were in very good condition (scratches, etc) but i still got the full amount. Very pleased.
  • I posted my 4 phones by special delivery on Monday, received a text on Tuesday to say they had received my phones and chq was on its way. I recieved the cheque on Wednesday - very impressive. Well done Fonebank:beer:

Fonebank offered a good service, however make sure you pick the option to post yourself as it will save time, unless your a really old schooler and cant/dont want to fork out for a 58p jiffy bag?

Sent my phone on Friday 24th March 2009, Fonebank received on Tuesday 31st March 2009, cheque in my bank by Thursday 2nd April 2009.

Comes top for cash paid as well right now, plus extra fiver using the code so get in there!

    :T
  • I was impressed with them. Sent them the phone on Monday by special delivery. And got the cheque on Wednesday, for the amount they said they would give me. Straight forward & no problems.

I sent in my old Nokia phone to fonebank and they completely ripped me off. I was using the phone a few days before I sent it but admittedly it did have a flat battery when I did send it.

I know other companies that do charge the phones to test them and I assumed (stupidly) that fonebank would do the same.

I expected to receive an email when they got my phone a) to let me know it had got there ok and b) to tell me if I would be getting the price they quoted.

Four days after my phone should have arrived I got a letter through the post just saying thanks for sending your phone with a cheque for a 'broken' phone at the bottom...no explanation as to why.

I feel completely robbed as had I sent my phone elsewhere I know I would have got a full price for it. I've sent a rather grumpy email to them to ask exactly what was wrong with the phone so hopefully I'll hear back in a few days. If you have a choice of sending your phone elsewhere I would recommend doing so as not sending an email to confirm they have your phone is rubbish.

sent freepost on Saturday, got confirmation of receipt on Thursday, cheque for full amount on Saturday. This dispite phone having centre button missing on my Nokia N73.

Had a query as was not sure how long should leave before worrying if lost in the post, got a response back the next day.

Just waiting for the cheque to clear now!
  • Going to be sending 2 phones, a N96 and a N95 8GB, hopefully I'll not have any issues.
