Tesco misprices discussion area part 4

Options
As the previous thread had got a bit personal and wandered off topic that one has been closed and this new one started.

This thread is for any discussions on the Tesco policy regarding misprices. Please don't post misprice items in this thread but you can chat away to your heart's content here, leaving the other thread just for listing the 'finds'

Any misprices you find should be posted in this thread here

Thanks :)

For new readers:

For clarification SEL stands for Shelf Edge Label

the Tesco policy on signs instore is :-

"And if things don't add up ~ In the unlikely event you are charged a higher price than on the shelf or the product we will refund your money and you can keep the product"

Compare the price per kilo on the pack with the shelf edge label price per kilo and where there is a difference the lowest price must be charged.

Thanks to !!!!!! Dastardly for providing the following information from the DTI website which summarises consumer rights in relation to misleading price indications:

Q1. I was charged a different price for an item at the till to the one that was shown on the shelf, what are my rights?

The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence for a trader to give a consumer misleading price indications. In the first instance speak to the trader about the differing prices, if you are not satisfied with the response, contact your local authority trading standards department who enforce the Act and who could bring a prosecution against the trader.

Just called HO regarding the phone issue.

I explained that the Manager at the store stated that it was a HO issue. The Customer service lady said she was not aware of any offers on Mobile phones and that l need to fax the reciept and the leaflet to them and they will try to resolve it in a few days.

Are they fobbing me off as an earlier poster did get a positive result with HO ?

    Thanks

I would call again - chances are you'll get a different HO person who might take a different view.

I find that HO Staff are like CS Staff - some are very helpful, some are not!

Yep he got 2 there, hassle from CS initially - they gave some rubbish about having to buy air time to get the £10 off (!?), but then IT counter staff were fine.

Incidentally he picked up another two in Slough so 6 in total!!

It looks as though I've missed the boat  ! The shelves were cleared of the Motorola V171 and a big 'Discontinued' sign was slapped on the original price sign! Although there are still plenty of those leaflets available in the Reading branch of Tesco Extra :) !

also just rang HO about the Motorola v171

Customer service woman read from a script that Tescos had issued regarding the Motorola v171 - this said that as the leaflet was a misprint, I'd been charged the correct price (£49.97) for the phone, that this was not considered by Tescos as an overcharge and the policy did not apply.

I argued that what part of paying £10 over the price I expeced to pay wasn't an overcharge, but she refused to budge, saying over and over again " I've read out the statement to you."

Can I ask was that one of the 'overseas' call centers? I know alot of the customer service guys at Dundee are losing there jobs to the overseas call centers.

Also that sounds like c**p to me. Doesn't matter whether it was a missprint or not the price was wrong and the leaflet was out for you to read. How the heck are customers supposed to know what the right price is and whats a missprint.

no it was the Dundee call centre (complete with scottish accent)

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has rung up HO, and got the statement read out.

I'll probably just take it back for the refund now.

As you have the leaflet and a reciept, why not take it to TS?
Clearly you can prove date of purchase (£49.99), and nationally advertised selling price (£39.99), along with Mr Ts own policy displayed behind CS regarding overcharges. I think TS would be very interested.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
